The food is so-so...I could be wrong, but it all tasted like mass-produced frozen and reheated blobs. The slaw was OK, the catfish was overcooked, the fries were soggy. The highlight of the meal was the hushpuppies. They had a little spice to them. It is absolutely a "touristy" spot - no local flavor whatsoever. If you want a "feel"... more
We heard about ground Zero on a PBS ducumentary just after the club opened. We have always loved blues music and we had visited that area many times in the past so we decided to do Ground Zero. We loved it. Okay I must admit it is not our favorite place to dine but we didn't go there to eat.... more
This was my second visit to Ground Zero. It's located next to the Delta Blues museum. From the outside it looks nothing like a juke joint or restaurant. It's a pretty big place with a nice size stage and pool table. It used to be an old cotton warehouse. There's writing all over every single thing from people who visited, including... more
We spent one night in Clarksdale, staying at the apartments above Ground Zero. The apartments are amazing--huge loft space, comfortable, and mighty convenient. We did not eat at Ground Zero, but the drinks were strong and the music kept my toes a tappin'! The museum next door is interesting. I wouldn't plan to spend much time in Clarksdale, other than... more
My husband and I visited The Ground Zero Club and stayed in the apartments above in May of this year. We reallly enjoyed the whole experience and plan to go there again next summer. The music was great. We appreciated the "Southern Hospitality" exhibited there. The apartments are awesome. I would certainly reccommend Clarksdale in general and Ground Zero Blues... more
This place just didn't feel right. I spent the better part of August traveling around Mississippi visiting juke joints to listen to live music. Here are my pluses for the Ground Zero... 1) Reliable live music almost every night 2) Clean Here are the minuses 1) Staff ignored me for the most part (I was not rude or drunk) 2)... more
Sure the atmosphere and surroundings are something very special but as for the food and service, well its quite frankly a rip off, especially as we had to wait over 90 minutes for two simple sandwiches. The kitchen was clearly understaffed and under pressure(there had been a coach party of school kids in) but hey if the staff know your... more
My two sisters and i visited Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi, owned by Morgan Freeman. We had a problem finding the club, after asking directions from three different people, we got three different directions. Upon arrival, we discovered it was located just to the right of the Delta Blues Museum. The address is 0 Blues Alley, Clarksdale, Mississippi.... more
I've been to Clarksdale three times this year. The town may be rundown and economically depressed, but it's nevertheless a great place for a family vacation. Kids are welcome inside Ground Zero Blues Club. In fact, children themselves are often the performers, having been trained next door in vocational music programs held at the Delta Blues Museum. Food and drinks... more
