We try to go every year!! We love the ship ride to the island and watch for Dolphins! Tiffany and I always go for a walk to collect sea shells!! We see string rays, skeets, blue crabs, fish and hermit crabs. Staff is friendly!! We always rent chairs and umbrella, the sun is hot!! We love the clear water and... More

We have a boat so we visit different areas of the island depending on whether we have guests who want to walk on the island, visit the fort, fish or swim. The island is beautiful and the advantage to those without a boat is that there is a ferry like service that will take you out from Gulfport harbor, drop... More

Enjoy the ferry ride to the beautiful blue waters....the umbrella and chairs rental is worth the $25 for the day!

We were most excited to visit Ship Island - one of the barrier islands off the coast of Biloxi and Gulfport. We did not know what to expect, but did want to see the "ocean" instead of the calm bay waters. Promises of finding sea shells went unfulfilled.... I would so commend the ferry service that takes you to the... More

Don't forget the sunscreen, but don't visit the MS Gulf Coast and skip Ship Island. The first thing you will see on Ship Island is Fort Massachusetts. History buffs don't want to miss going through the old brick and stone fort, complete with guns, casemates, and views. This fort was submerged in water during Katrina, but still stands. The Fort... Since Boloxi Beach water looked dirty to me I decided to take this day trip. It was a nice boat ride. The beach was awesome and the water looked much cleaner 11 miles out. I went with my parents who are in there 70's just note it is a long walk from the dock to the other side of the... More

Well worth it but pick a day during the week or on Sunday to miss all of the crowds. Prices on the ship were reasonable and the fort is pretty cool.

I have been going to ship island since I was my children's ages(3 and 6)....I still love it. There is a gift shop at the ferry dock to purchase souveniers. You have to take a ferry to get there and back, and almost always get to see dolphins swimming by on the way. There are snacks and nachos available for... More
