I've been going to West Ship Island by the Ship Island Excursion ferry or by private boat for about 10 years. For those looking for a high density, commercialized, restaurants/bars, kind of beach, this is NOT it. This National Park Service island is a place of calm, of Civil War history (for the confederate fort and for the soldiers buried... more

We have been going to Ship Island for over twenty years. We take our own boat and go to the east end of West Ship Island. The island is a little over two miles long. Since Katrina the waters are more beautiful and more clean. It's true the east end of Ship Island has always been a nudists haven. Why... more

Very long walk from the boat dock to the south side of the island. Plan on bringing only the very basic of supplies. Concession stand was very good considering the remoteness of the island. Food and drink prices much more reasonable than I expected. I have read reviews of nudity on one end of the island, but I saw none... more

To get to the island you have to take a ferry which is about an hour 1 way but the boat is comfortable and has a snack bar. We were lucky enough to have dolphins follow us the whole way there and this is fairly common according to the crew. The island itself is very rustic; it is a good... more

My wife and I have been going to Ship Island for over a dozen years. It is a unique place and we love it. What we love most about it is the fact that it is a part of the National Seashore which is Federally owned property. As such it is acceptable to sunbathe nude if you so desire. Since... more

I have been going to Ship Island for years. The boat ride is very enjoyable (dolphins along side and seagulls that will eat from your hand). The old fort is a nice attraction, especially if you are into history. You can't beat the beach on the other side of the island. The water and sand are absolutely beautiful! As far... more

My friend and I went to Ship Island last weekend. I loved the boat ride and you do get to see the dolphins playing by the ship. The beach is pretty and water is great. But, be aware and if you have children, do not venture far from the area by the umbrellas. My friend and I decided to take... more

A few friends and I went to Ship Island. At $20 a person, the boat ride is a bit pricey- but it is worth it for uncrowded beach. A few words of wisdom though: the boat ride is an hour each way, so be prepared for that. By the time you are ready to go, you'll still have another hour... more

Our little girl has been asking to go to the beach. So we all headed out on the 3 hour trip to Biloxi. When we got there the beaches and water were not so great. The sand was full of trash and the water was dirty so we decided to take the boat out to ship island. The boat ride... more
