This does require some amount of good shape, as you walk across the island once you land, to swim or bask. The beautiful view of Gulf of Mexico on the south side of the island is breath taking. There are some ruins there to see, however, I was unable to do any extra walking when I went Still appreciated getting... More

A wonderful excursion to the Island 12 miles off Gulfport, MS. Fort Massachusetts construction began in the summer of 1859 but was not completed until after the Civil War. Today it is managed by the National Park Serivce

It's the same beautiful beaches and water. Fewer shells. You'll be glad you didn't drive. Watch the undertow!

All of the reviews below cover the great boat ride, the dolphins you are sure to see, the courteous crew. If you want to save yourself a bit of bother, rent the umbrella and chairs once there ($25) and buy yourself a cheeseburger ($4.75) - surprisingly good - and a beer ($2.75). I would never swim in the water off... More

We loaded up for the day and took a boat over that was about an hour ride which was a great time to watch for dolphins which we saw quite a few. There is a concession area on the boat. Prices were reasonable. When purchasing your tickets to get on the boat go ahead and purchase chairs and umbrella rentals... More

While the beaches in Biloxi/Gulfport are nice, the water isn't. Take the short trip by boat to Ship Island and walk across to the Gulf side and there is the nice water and beach you want. The boat ride is fun as well. Good snack bar with reasonable prices, friendly crew, and you will probably get to see wild dolphins... More

The boat ride to Ship Island ws about 45 minutes nd 7 year granddaughter enjoyed it - 1st time on a boat. The Island south side is gret for swimming or wading in the surf. Park Service has chairs and umberellas to rent - cost of $25 per chair and umberella - little high I thought. Has snack bar. Children... More
