We traveled during the off season so not very many people on the day we went made for a very nice quiet day on the beach. The boat ride out to the beach was fun got to see dolphins jumping in the wake of the boat. While on the island also saw a stingray and more dolphins. Be sure and... More

I loved that you have to take a boat out to this spot. Also I loved the old Civil War fort on the island. The wildlife reserve aspect of it was also very interesting. It is a beautiful location and with a lot to see. The perfect spot to see a few sights, animal watch and relax.

This side trip is such fun! First, there is the boat ride out to the island; then you can claim a table on the wooden deck and stay in the shade of the roof, or you can take to the beach and collect shells and swim. Don't miss the fort!

This National park which is a barrier island, 11 miles off shore, is reached by ferry from Biloxi. The boat that took us out was comfortable and the staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. When the boat docks there is a fairly long - half mile or so - walk across a well constructed boardwalk. The beach is very pretty and... More

Take your own boat or take the excursion. Beautiful beaches and clear clean water. Bay side is dead calm and perfect for small children. Gulf side has great waves and high dunes. Park Service operates a small concession. Bring your own food and drink though if you want. Pack out all trash. The fort is a wonderful little side perk... More

It is a little pricey to get to the island especially if you have a family but it was well worth it. The water is beautiful, shallow and warm. The island itself is undisturbed. Saw a lot of dolphins on the boat ride out and off of the beach on the island. Couple peaceful stingrays which stayed away from the... More

Ship Island is still an isolated sand barrier island off the coast of Mississippi, but unlike my last trip out there, it now has full amenities, including improved shelters with plenty of space, an enclosed, air conditioned snack bar, and large bathrooms. What totally sold me on this trip, though, was the surf. Yes, honest to God SURF. It was... More

Got on the boat at 9am. Everyone was friendly and awesome. 40 minute ride to the island. Great beach and very clean. Started to rain so came back on the 2:30 boat.

I'm really enjoyed this island. The boat ride over was peaceful and beautiful. The actual island had a gorgeous beach and it was a very pretty day with nice weather so I have no complaints.
