I had made reservations and since it was still early in the tourist season there was still room for walk-ons. I think reservations would be a must as the summer season approaches. The National Park Service rides out to the island with the guests because they are responsible for the Fort Massachussetts tour. We had a great ride and saw... More

This was a great choice that I have made in a long time. I took 3 small kids 7,8,4 for there first beach experience. They love the hour long boat ride to the island and the staff was great and friendly. I loved the snake bar on the boat. Everyone enjoyed the island and there were so many shells the... More

The island is part of Gulf Seashores National Park and compares to other MS and AL beaches. Cool Fort. Pack in, Pack out. Plan ahead, it is a very nice place with one way on and one way off the island. There is a ferry with a snack bar aboard and a snack bar on the island. There is a... More

We went with my hubby and kids (5 and 3). The ride felt high $80 for all of us. (I grew up in central Florida so paying to go to the beach seemed odd) But, it was the only way to get to the "good" water on a day trip. Saw dolphins on the way out. We went early in... More

This was such a fun beach day. Just be prepared to stand around for about 45 minutes to wait to load the ferry and walk a LONG way across the island to get to the clear water side. Bring things to keep your children occupied, an umbrella, beach chairs and lots of snacks and water. You'll also want to pack... More

I had a great time on this excursion, but it was a HOT day! The ferry ride to this island was a great way to see dolphins and other wildlife. The sand itself was beautiful and white, but the water was the typical brown Mississippi color. I didn't spend much time in the water. Umbrellas and chairs are available for... More

Took this trip and was not disappointed. I am a history person so seeing the Civil War fort was a real treat and island itself is nice and relaxing. The only sounds you hear are that of the wind and the waves. Plenty of beach so you can spread out and not be near the crowds. The boat ride ride... More

The boat ride to the trip was nice and relaxing. The captain and the crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw several dolphins following a shrimping boat that we passed by. The island itself was beautiful with white sand beaches. There was a volunteer tour guide that gave our group a tour of the Fort. He was quite a... More

This was a really nice day trip and I would highly recommend it. The boat and captain and staff are super, friendly, knowledgable and they really take care of the customers. Ship Island itself is beautiful. Very wild and natural. We saw dolphins, jelly fish and stingrays from the beach. There is a small snack bar if you don't feel... More

Part of the National Seashore, it is accessable by private boat or tour boat. Right off the pier is the fort, which is well worth a quick look. Most people head across the boardwalk (@ 1/2 mile long) over to the beach. Umbrellas and chairs are rented there. Limited food choices at the snack bar, enough to keep you fed... More
