This museum is a must see it you are making the Mississippi River excursion or find yourself in Winona for the day. It has a very nice collection of pairings for such a small museum and the building itself is interesting.

This museum has got it all ,in my opinion. We didn't know what to expect, and were we blown away. We saw fabulous paintings of ships, original letters written by Admiral Nelson, a room of wood cuts. A European room with an original Picasso, monet, VanGough, and others I can't remember. Also another room with American artists.

I learned a lot! What a lovely building. And only $7 per adult to get in. Wonderful temporary exhibits and permanent collection. You can see everything in about 2 hrs. Loved it!

While the museum has a lot of marine art they have, at least when we were there they had two Monet and one of VanGoughs first painting on display. It may not be a large museum but they do have quality art. The staff appear to be knowledgable, too. On the plus it was easily affordable. On the negative it... More

I was awe-struck by the collection at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. Yes, the marine art alone is worth the trip, but the museum also offers wonderful piece by Monet, Van Gogh, Cassett, O'Keeffe, Cole, Durand, Fitz Hugh Lane, and on and on. These are not minor pieces by great artists, but major pieces by great artists. The beautiful museum,... More

The Minnesota Maritime Museum When a friend first mentioned the Minnesota Maritime Museum I admit I was puzzled. Why a maritime museum in a state 1200 miles from the sea and why Winona, Minnesota? After a visit I know longer care about the answers so much although they are quite interesting. The museum should be high on a list of... More

We were in Winona MN for two days and just happened upon the MMAM. The art is much more than just depictions of Minnesota and it's history. The exhibits include French impressionist and other American and European masterworks. Upcoming events include Revisiting Twain's Mississippi and Ansel Adams photographs. If you are ever in Winona it's a mist see

I was surprised that the collection was so eclectic. Broad collection, mostly nautical/marine related but not all. Saw many of my favorite artwork.

My husband and I had no idea that Winona had this great little museum. The woodblock print exhibit was interesting and beautiful, and the permanent collection was impressive for a museum of this size. This was a wonderful way to spend half a day while in Winona.
