I'm really not kidding. You should RUN, RUN, RUN to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum!!! This is an AMAZING hidden gem of a museum! We saw Monet, Picasso, Corot, Cassatt, Renoir, Signac, van Gogh, and more! PLUS "Washington Crossing the Delaware!" Beautifully curated collection. In many respects, this museum is a perfect size, as you don't feel overwhelmed by the... More

There is so much quality art from many of the masters that you won't believe the collection until you visit. New expansion has made the building much larger? So there is more great art to see. Take the 2 1/4 hours from the twin cities to drive down to Winona. Try the Wisconsin side on Hwy 35 and home on... More

The first work of art you encounter here (at least in the summer season) are gorgeous gardens bursting with native prairie species, all with the Mississippi for a backdrop. This alone would have been worth the trip for me. But then we spent over 90 minutes enjoying the art inside the building. I like "conceptual" art as much as the... More

Who would expect a world-class museum in Winona, Minnesota? It had just enough art work to keep us happy and interested on a VERY rainy afternoon. they have just acquired the famous painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware, and are justly proud of purchasing it from the White House!

MMAM was worth the $7 I paid for today. A big collection of art. They have a small store where you can get good souvenirs. Good for children and adults.

I love this museum! From its picturesque location next to a Mississippi River pond to its lovely exterior architecture evocative of a weathered east coast salt box, this place is a jewel inside and out. Name a famous painter and you are likely to find at least one work by him or her in this museum. Works of Cezanne, Gaugin,... More

I have only been here once, but it keeps calling to me and I want to take my grandchildren so they see a Monet and a Picasso and the difference between realism and impressionism and learn the names of more famous artists. The museum is easy to find on the river and you can check their website for the traveling... More
