I have enjoyed the art at this museum for years now. I realized they offered classes on the arts shown so signed up. It was one of the best I have experienced.

This museum had been on my to-do-list for years, but I only just made it last week after my company had our global meeting dinner there. The drive up to the museum is stunning, and it sits on a gorgeous section of the river with a small boardwalk with tables. It is very, very charming- I could see weddings and... More

I was extremely impressed by this culturally rich art museum located on the banks of the MIssissippi. The marine setting alone with an active scene of working tugboats was inspiration enough to this visitor, but add to it a beautiful native landscape complete with Monarch butterflies (!) making up the museum grounds, and I was like, 'WOW'. And, this was... More

The collection is really a surprise in a small place like Winona. A room full of big names, an excellent woodcut traveling exhibition, and some very nice marine art. I would go back.

Who would expect to find this fine art in such a small town. This museum is worth a special trip to Winona; you won't be disappointed.

Fabulous museum with a collection of impressionist paintings including Pissaro, Monet, Renoir, Matiesse, and even a Picasso. Also included a woodblock print exhibit and an American marine artist.

So many of the great art museums of the world are overwhelming. A person can only see a small part of the museum before fatigue sets in, and then guilt sets in. The MMAM is different. It contains absolutely first rate art in a beautiful, restful, quiet setting, and you can see it all in a few short hours! This... More

We visited this museum on the Mississippi river and were impressed with the collection and the information provided on the wall text labels. Two temporary exhibits and two galleries of the permanent collection including many famous artists such as Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, Mary Cassatt, etc. Many examples of maritime painting as you would expect, but also much more.

No one would ever believe this institution would exist in this relatively small area of the country if you didn't go there yourself. It has amazing art work from some of the masters. The facility rivals modern galleries in large cities. It is off the beaten path but houses some of the finest marine art in the country.

MMAM defies it's title and surprises any visitor. Though one would expect to see only ships or nautical art, the collection is superb and quite eclectic. The common theme is water and it is intriguing to find it in each picture - whether Picasso or Renoir or Georgia O'Keefe. The building is unpretentious on the outside but am oasis on... More

I am glad you enjoyed your visit to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum! The MMAM continues to grow and offer new things. Be sure to visit back this fall after the opening of our 6th and largest gallery which will house our growing collection Hudson River School paintings, recognized as one of the best collections in the mid-west.
