This museum is tucked away in an industrial area but right on the Mississippi River with great views. The permanent collection is quite extensive and covers both American Art and European Art - all with maritime connections. (Mostly they all include water somewhere in the composition if even just a tiny splash - hey, why quibble, the works are excellent!)... More

Oh my gosh! What a beautiful place - we heard of this museum but had no clue how wonderful this place is. 6 different galleries to view paintings, photography along with inspiring poetry.

...what a great museum this is. The collection is just incredible. There are two versions of the "Washington crossing the Delaware River" painting we've all seen pictures of in existence: one is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the other is at this museum in Winona, Minnesota. They have Monets, Van Goghs, Gaugins... Unbelievable. There are... More

Original Monet, Renoir, Picasso and many other European artists. Totally blown away. The painting depicting Washington crossing the Potomac which was in the White House West wing is also there. An excerpt from Wikipedia follows ---" The original was part of the collection at the Kunsthalle in Bremen, Germany, and was destroyed in a British air raid in 1942, during... More

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is a great museum. It is not a very big museum, but it still took us nearly two hours to see all of the exhibits and artwork. There is a nice selection of famous paintings along with new exhibits. Very happy we went and will be checking to see when exhibits are on display for... More

My second visit, this time with my 87 year old mother and 16 year old granddaughter. There are pictures of the great artists known around the world in the three room size walk in vaults. Plus there are galleries with ever changing exhibits. This time it was all about photos of the oceans from around the world. Amazing day!

As you walk the spacious rooms of this museum, you are taken back into time with many artists of varying styles. A beautiful way to appreciate the different ways to view the world! Highly recommend when visiting Winona!

We went here not expecting a lot, just wanting to do something inside due to heat, but all of us loved it. One of the nicer art museums I've been to, including some of the big ones.

You have how many 5 star reviews and you're asking yourself if you should go? Do you realize that this place has Picasso, Monet, Cassat, Renoir, Van Gogh, Washington Crossing the Delaware, Bierstadt, and the list goes on and on? I was absolutely not prepared for the beauty of this place.

We were blown away by the museum. We had no idea that the collection included so many famous artists. the temporary exhibits were great too. The background and descriptions of the pieces were extensive. We spent 3 1/2 hours going through the exhibits.
