If you are looking for a beautiful park without the crowds, this park is for you. A variety of hikes, from short to long, but beauty guaranteed no matter your choice. Pack a picnic for the day or reserve a spot for semi primitive camping and enjoy! Pick berries, hike, snowshoe...great park!

If you are looking for great views of the Mississippi River and Wisconsin, Great River Bluffs is a great park. I would stop often when coming from La Crosse WI back to Rochester, Mn just to go to two overlooks and take a few photos. Hiking wise, there is a nice out-n-back trail that leads to a location with a... More

We hiked during the fall color peak. Wonderful trails with a number of overlooks unto the Mississippi River and river valleys. The colors were fantastic. The campsites are well spaced and secluded.

The day we went, it was foggy and overcast; however the view of the Mississippi was still great. I'd love to go back on a clear day. We didn't camp, but we walked through the closed-for-the-season campground and the sites were nice with a nice amount of green between them. Lots of great trails.

We hiked all the various trails on a beautiful sunny October day. The leaves were spectacular. None of the trails were difficult. But we got some good exercise.

This is a remarkable park for fall colors. The basic hikes are relatively easy and the views are spectacular. You have to get there on the right day, like we did. Saw some Bald Eagles as well. The walk from the picnic area to the south outlook on Queen's Bluff was an amazing walk through an enchanted forest of yellow.... More

We were disappointed at this state park. We just wanted to see the fall leaves and see the scenery and once we arrived we were greeted with gravel roads and then we found out we had to pay for a day pass. We were not camping or hiking ,we just wanted to see the leaves on the trees. The sign... More

We drove from Chicago to southeastern Minnesota for the Labor Day weekend. We left early on Sat morning and got the park around 1pm. We hiked the long trail to see all the overlooks in about 4-4.5hrs. We carried water and sandwiches with us. The views are spectacular! Because it rained in the morning, some of the trails were a... We stayed at the campground in this park for a brief visit one weekend. It is a pleasant, wooded campground with most of the sites having a reasonable degree of privacy. I would avoid the campsites directly in front of the bathroom/shower building (numbers 8,10,12) as these are quite open and subject to a lot of foot traffic to and... More

Small laid back park with nice views, good hiking trails and campsites that aren't too developed and ridiculously modernized. Just how we like it. You will have to search a little for the best camp sites. Some are too close to one another for our tastes. Located this close to the Mighty Mississippi we expected mosquitoes and were prepared. Good... More
