Garvin Heights is a mainstay when we visit Winona. Kids love the view and the climb, however the stairs downward are not maintained well and have nails sticking out and poison ivy all along...signs are there warning you, but still lots of poison ivy around. My parents and I stayed on the cement and at the look out though. Cloudy... More

This is a neat place to enjoy the full view of the city. It's worth the short drive up there. It really is cool to be up in the bluffs of the city. This is a great place to get some pictures.

Easy to get to. We went in there evening and morning asks it was pretty hazy so visibility was limited. But I would recommend a visit if in the area.

The winding road to the top is a fun drive (if you don't want to walk, of course), and you are rewarded with some spectacular views at the top. If you are in the area, or even driving through, be sure to stop - it won't take up much of your time, and you'll be glad you did.

Easy to get to, and the drive from the bottom of the hill to the top is half the fun. Once you park at the top, a short walk (wheelchair accessible) to the lookout. Definitely recommended, either as the first thing you do upon arriving in Winona or the last thing you do prior to leaving. The only thing that... More

Driving up to Garvin Heights is good, but if you take the trail (there is parking near the beginning of the trail) up, it is totally worth it! It has some great scenery, cool trees to climb, amazingly restored prairie land, and very cool geology!

Worth the trip up to gaze down upon this river town. Very popular place and the handy plaques let you know what you are looking at. Must do in Winona.

My husband and I drove up to Garvin Heights for the view of Winona down below. You will see why it's called the "Island City". Quick drive..great view! Def recommend it for anyone.
