There seems to be some confusion as to the name of this place: not sure if it's Hellacious Overlook or Palisade Head. The place we went to looked just like the photos others have posted. Breathtaking views! We were there over MEA weekend. It was chilly but bright and sunny. There were some college age kids rock climbing - fun... More

This is definately an under-rated site and everyone should take some time to check it out. Beautiful views, great hiking, easy to get to. Loved it!!

The view from here is outstanding. It is free, and it is easy to find. There is a little green sign that says palisade head on it right along the highway, there is also a church right near it named the palisade head something or other. Make sure to go beyond the parking area, go down to the stone wall... More

Hellacious Overlook is actually much farther north on the Superior Hiking Trail. It's between Judge Magney State Park and the Northern Terminus. Lives up to its name, but once you climb it the views are outstanding!

We were lucky enough to take in the view on a gorgeous fall day. My son loved climbing the rocks and my daughter liked the friendly chipmunks. Take the time to pull off 61 and drive up. There were some rock climbers too. If you are a climber. This would be a great place to do it.

I read reviews of this lookout point and they didn't lie. This is truly spectacular view of Lake Superior.

This is a must stop! Amazing views. If you are lucky, you will get to watch as the more adventurous come climbing over the cliff after repelling down to the lake. Very steep drive with some times narrow road.

We just stumbled upon this. It is posted on the road as Palisades Head. Sheer beauty when you reach the top. Drive up the very narrow drive and park at the top NOT at the bottom. be very careful as there is NOTHING to keep you from falling 900 ft. into Lake Superior. Is is soooo worth the stop. On... More
