I did this for the first time last weekend. What a bargain! It is only $1 for students and $5 for adults. We had a great tour guide (younger man in his 20s or 30s) and he did a wonderful job explaining the artifacts from the time period. They have a whole room full of lumberjack tools and the guide... You'll get not so much a history of the Warden's House, but of the village of Stillwater its people (including the wardens), and its industry. Very inexpensive for a tour ($1 for students) and the volunteer tour guides care about what they're telling you. Lots of cool artifacts to be seen inside as well!

Very nice museum with a great tour guide and the manager. They were full of great historical information and can answer any question you have about the prison or the Warden's House. Very interesting history behind the Warden's House in about a 50 minute tour. Many rooms with different exhibits, lots of picture, old time medical tools, wallpaper is remade... More

While visiting places I like to visit local museums to learn more about the area I'm visiting. It's not far from the downtown area and up on a hill so you have to climb a bit but not to bad. It was a prison wardens house and the prison was to the north. Some of the walls are still there.... More

The Warden's House Museum is small, but the tour and the special events are worth the trip. For those that enjoy history, the inmate stories and amazing stories of the cutting edge of late 1800's progressive prison reform is worth the trip. The Younger brothers are certainly the most famous prisoners to grace Stillwater Prison, and their work starting the... More

This small museum holds many mementos of days gone by. It won't take long to visit, but it will give you much to think about while visiting the St Croix Valley. It's easily located on the north end of Main Street and can be walked to from downtown. It's a great historical resource for the Valley! There are 14 rooms... More

An amazing tour back in time. Great pictures and stories of what went on in this house. A couple of changes I would make 1) Have a place in doors for people to wait for the next tour 2) The tour guide talked in a monotone

I brought our kids to the Warden house and was not sure what to expect. I was hoping it was a self-guided tour since my kids, ages 9, 7, and 4, sometimes get a little rowdy. It is a guided tour through the house and they did a fantastic job! They kept the kids interested the entire time!! It was... More
