My wife and I recently went to the Minnesota Centennial Showboat to see Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with her mother and sister. The play was light entertainment and very entertaining. The U of M students who put on the play are very talented. I actually liked the musical Olio's between the scenes as much or more than the play.... More

While planning a weekend getaway to celebrate a wedding anniversary, I happened upon the Minnesota Centennial Showboat. A melodrama version of Jekyll and Hyde was playing, and having seen a couple of melodramas in the past, it sounded as though it could be a fun part of the weekend for my wife and I, along with our teenage son. We... More

Performers are University of Minnesota students who do a good job of singing and acting and having fun. The audience hissed and booed on cue. Play interspersed with vaudeville which is entertaining by has nothing to do with the story line. Good experience overall and nice views of the city across the river from the showboat. Still signs of the... More

Great show, lots of fun and energetic numbers. The Jekyll/Hyde show this summer is entertaining and the sets and costumes are top? Beautiful sunset views of the Capitol at intermission during the evening show. Well worth the price.

There's a certain novelty to the Centenial Showboat, (which doesn't actually go anywhere, it stays moored at the dock). The thing to remember is these are all student performers, so the quality varies. The costuming is usually pretty amazing, considering they have the U's budget for the costuming and sets. I prefer professional productions, where you don't have characters in... More

The showboat itself is a great part of the attraction. It is intimate, comfortable and visually pleasing with an historic feel. We saw talented actors who were also excellent musicians. I can hardly wait until we can make it back for another show. One concern: In the wintertime, access can be difficult for moderately or severely disabled people due to... More

A Groupon made this a steal. Fun to "boo and hiss" at the villians. Talented U of M theater students show their stuff and it's obvious that they are having a great time.

We try to get here every year to enjoy the vaudeville type theater put on by students and faculty of the U of M. It is always a good time! The theater itself is a bit dated, the refreshment offerings are limited, and parking can be confusing, but it is still worth it.

Went there last night to see their new show "Sweet Revenge." I bought tickets online, with drink 2-1 tickets. It was a great show. The staff were friendly, the venue was intimate and I forgot i was on a showboat. I like the little bit of history you learn through the song and dance routines. It was funny and they... More

The e-mail from Padelford@riverrides.com said it was the best kept secret in Twin Cities. It was true; we got senior prices plus online discount for the Showboat performance of Sweet Revenge. It was a fun show and at 10pm we had first class view of July 4th Fireworks from the deck. We saw the arty low bursts as well as... More
