Silver Lake is a beautiful, peaceful lake in the middle of a residential neighborhood about a mile from Mayo Clinic. Geese are prevalent almost to the point of being pests. If you want some quiet time away from Mayo, I recommend this spot.

We walk around the lake everyday. It is a 1.8 mile loop and yes there are lots of geese. Its really only bad in the spring but the lake is beautiful. There is something different going on each day.

Nice park but honestly too many geese everywhere. They were pooping all over the grass and sidewalks and the lake was full of poop too. The city should make a greater effort to clean that up.

Our two grandkids, ages 5 and 2, have a lot of energy. They loved this park. It was good for both ages. We took them there multiple times.

This lake is ringed with beautiful bike and walking paths that also lead all the way to downtown. The city has allowed native flowers and grasses to rejuvenate along the water's edge, which is delightful, as well as environmentally sound. The geese are cute - sort of - but their poop is not. Sure wish the lake was clean enough... More

The lake is nice, it runs by the Zumbra River. There are hundreds of Canadian geese because the water is warmed from the plant across the street (being decommissioned). You can bike or walk miles of trails. The restroom was a shock: deep stalls and NO doors! There is a nice playground, also.

If you like geese, you'll like silver lake. There are thousands here. However, the water is icky - they used to swim here, but not any more. The poop is everywhere, though they do a fair job of keeping the sidewalks clear with a machine I call the goose poop Zamboni. We will walk around the lake, which is about... More

The walk ways were really nice to venture through although the geese did leave piles of poop that were rather unpleasant. The water is enjoyable to walk by with plenty of rest areas to relax. The bridge is a must to visit as well! Still worth visiting even though the geese are everywhere. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants... More

Rochester can be a bit stifling , as the Mayo Clinic dominates the community, and many visitors (like us) are visiting under trying circumstances. The city has an excellent biking/running/walking trail system, including a loop around Silver Lake. Get out and get endorphins in a lovely setting.

While the park has been cleaned up in the last few years, it is still full of goose poop and, of course the geese. The lake is so overwhelmed with nutrients that apparently even algae cannot survive. The lake water is a very light brown with visibility measured in a few millimeters. It has always been a mystery to me... More
