We try to climb the bluff every year we go over that has been 10 years now! Take your water bottle and enjoy a few hours in the outdoors take your time and enjoy the climb to the top! it has narrow trails at time so be careful if you have small children! Could be slippery when wet, and make... More

We have climbed the bluff twice. Once on the easier trail, and once on the experienced hikers trail(EHT). Both were fun. Suggest the EHT is truly more comfortable for those with experience. Its often very narrow. Slippery when wet. And very steep if you slip/fall off the trail. Take water, suntan lotion, and bug spray. We enjoyed the views and... More

Start at the East end, There are stairs up this end. Each stair has the name of the person who donated it. Bring a camera and binoculars, there are spectacular views when you reach the west end. You can see barges on the Mississippi River. If you look on the west horizon on a clear day you can see the... More

This is a nice hike for being in a city. It does have one section with a steep drop off which may not be suitable for younger children. Great vistas from the top of the bluff. This is a nice attraction for the city of Red Wing. We hiked there many times in the 5 years we owned a townhouse... More

We couldn't find a legitimate parking lot and due to the weather, no one else was around, so we just parked on the side of the road at the bottom of the bluff. After our hike, our car was still there, free of any parking tickets, so go ahead and park where you want. This attraction isn't for everyone as... More

Started on the north trail and while it was a little challenging, we were still able to manage quite easily. I workout regularly so that may have something to do with it. The west end view was great and we finished with the south trail. Make sure to spend some time around the corner from the trail entrance. An old... More

Stand above the Mississippi River Valley and see for miles. If you're lucky you might be able to see a storm roll in.

It was too icy as the snow was melting and refreezing so we couldn't make it to the top like we had hoped.

Amazing views of a beautiful city can be seen from Barn Bluff. The best view is on the east side, which overlooks the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin. Also, there are far less people that go there, due to the extra amount of walking. But, totally worth it!
