It was too icy as the snow was melting and refreezing so we couldn't make it to the top like we had hoped.

Amazing views of a beautiful city can be seen from Barn Bluff. The best view is on the east side, which overlooks the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin. Also, there are far less people that go there, due to the extra amount of walking. But, totally worth it!

My husband and I spent a night in Red Wing recently. We decided to visit Barn Bluff. As others have mentioned, it is a little tricky to get to. I used the advice of another reviewer by setting my navigation to find East 5th Street in Red Wing. The road dead ends at the trail head. The hike was pretty... More

First off, my new car navigational system and my Google maps app for my smartphone could only get me close, but not to the road to the park. So, here are some clues: 1) If you are totally unfamiliar with the area and don't know where Barn Bluff is, go stand in front of the Red Wing Shoe Store on... More

As we were stating the climb up the steps, we encountered a group of very fit teens. They said it took them 1/2 hour to make the climb... but they could not agree on the number of steps. Made the climb, and what a view! Grabbed some geocaches too.

I have hiked here numerous times. It is a short and fairly easy hike, with a couple of different options for trails. Most people of all abilities could make this trek. Getting into the park is a little difficult when looking how to get across or under the highway, but well worth a couple of u-turns if you miss it.... More

We took the north trail to the overlook. It was a bit narrow in parts and lots of steps, but not too difficult.

Barn's Bluff is a not to miss site in Red Wing, MN. I recommend the South Trail. This way is moderate to easy. The North Trail is difficult with some very narrow places in the path. There are also several technical rock climbing routes in the old quarry.

Great hike if you want to get so excercise. Mostly stairs. Nice drop if you wander off the path. Not good if you don't like heights.Great view!

We've hiked Barn Bluff before and our goal this time was to go as fast as possible. We did the North Loop to South Loop trails twice in under an hour (I think the two loops combined are 2.4 miles for the round trip). Fun hike with some good views where the North and South loops connect at the top... More
