Forestville State Park is one of Minnesota's treasures. It offers horse and hiking trails. If you like to fish, take a hike down to one of the many Root River crossings and drop a line.
There are about 15 miles of horse trails and the park is adding another 2 mile loop. Should be open ...spring 2012.

We visited the state park just when the leaves were changing. We walked to the lookout point and found the trail moderately easy to negotiate, though one had to avoid stepping on the big nuts that had fallen from the trees and the horse plops.
