Great group campsite #3 for spring or fall, not summer

So the other reviews are correct, this place is one big swampy marsh and the bugs are bad in the summer. And it is a huge park, has 3 different campgrounds, but it's gorgeous and... read more

So the other reviews are correct, this place is one big swampy marsh and the bugs are bad in the summer. And it is a huge park, has 3 different campgrounds, but it's gorgeous and awesome on certain aspects. 1st of all, we ended up at Group campsite 3 and it was absolutely gorgeous right on the banks (marsh) of... I don't usually like to give bad reviews but their website deceives you and makes you think they have a wonderful campground on Mille Lacs Lake, they don't. To get to the campground you turn left and go South of Mille Lacs Lake for a little ways and then have to drive through all these twisty roads through the state... More

My husband and I camped here over the 4th of July weekend and we loved this park. Large campsites with ample area for our large tent, sites were spread out nicely and staff was very helpful. Bathrooms were not clean but that's par for the course. Good hiking and we rented a canoe as well. Would definitely go back.

We stayed in a Camping Cabin for 2 nights. The cabins are equipped with electricity, heat, box fan, table and bunk beds. The bunks are 2 small double beds topped with single beds. There is a screened in porch, lockable interior door and three screened windows. We found the space quite adequate for our needs. We attended Erin's, Park Naturalist,... More

Spent four nights here in their campground. Large campsites with electricity. Lots of hiking trails and only a few miles from the Soo Line Bike trail which is 114 miles long. 6 miles from the town of Onamia, MN where we found a great little restaurant.

We do the candlelight cross country/snowshoe ski event every year and it is fantastic. The rangers layout a nice course for both types of winter enthusiasts. There is usually a bonfire at the end of the adventure with hot cider and snacks.

I really like this park. It has never been crowded when I have visited and it has a feel of being much further up north than it is. I always climb the tower for a great view of the lake. Would like to stay in one of the rustic cabins on one of my next visits and do a little... More

Plowed road. Cute cabins to rent. No snow this time to do any activities like cross country ski or snowmobile.

Some have written about the bugs......it's the outdoors people! Have spent several afternoons there. Plenty to do there.....climb the tower, camping, bike riding, swimming, fishing, pinicing, or hiking! And the plus is it's quiet! Love Kathio!

We backpacked here in June after a very wet spring. The mosquitoes were VERY bad! On the trail, there were at least 100 swarming and buzzing around our heads and bodies. Even though we used 100% DEET a few were still biting us. We used 3 cans of Deep Woods Off (25%DEET) and a small bottle of Muskol (100% DEET)... More
