Beautiful town. Nice river walk. The Carlton College campus was beautiful and the surrounding homes were gorgeous. Museum was small but interesting. Found things we didn't know about Jessie James.

This is the actual place where the citizens of the little town of Northfield MN dealt a death blow to one of the most notorious band of desperadoes in history. The James-Younger Gang journeyed a long way from Clay County MO in 1876 to rob this bank and were thwarted by a courageous group of ordinary citizens. The bank has... More

The staff and volunteers do an excellent job setting up interesting displays, do historical plays and give interesting walking tours of the city. If you love history you can plan to spend many hours going through their information . Many interesting books for sale also. Not just all Nortfield history . They had a great display on the New Ulm... More

Good selection of photos and interesting video presentation in museum. Lots of related goods for sale. Quite small but worth a visit if in area - bank restored in building.Cheap admission $3 for seniors. Afraid that;s it for Northfield though.

Now this museum is an authentic slice of history and the volunteers do a great job of bringing it to life. You'll see it as it was in 1876 when Jesse and the boys decided to rob the good citizens of Northfield - not a good idea for the nefarious evil-doers. This is not a big museum but it looms... More

The museum offers wonderful displays illustrating the history of Northfield and highlights the pivotal event when the infamous James-Younger Gang was defeated by the heroic citizens. Situated in the carefully restored bank where the attempted robbery took place. The museum store contains a delightful array of fascinating gifts and souvenirs.

The museum is small but worth a visit. Our grandkids, ages 9,11,14, didn't want to go but were engrossed after we saw the video and took the tour. It's an interesting story, I hadn't realized the significance of the robbery and the impact it had on the James gang. And the town has a nice quaint main street. Try Hogan... More

It is an interesting stop, well worth $4. We had lunch across the street at Hogan's. This is a cute small town!

They have many static exhibits such as a saddle, numerous guns (hand held and shot guns) and story boards to recount how the robbery occurred. The bathroom was worth the price of admission and they probably need some screens there to show a movie or something to captivate the younger crowd. The 2 early teen boys at the front desk... More

Knew all about Northfield's claim to fame before I went and that is thwarting the James brothers and the Dalton gang as they tried to rob the bank. Killed a couple and caught the Dalton's but the James brothers escaped. The museum was nice - very small but I understood there was better historical artifacts in the basement. You have... More
