Beautiful Park; Poor Trail Maps

First the good. Flandrau State Park is a lovely spot in the Cottonwood River. The park is right in the boundary of New Ulm, so it's an easy place to visit. Facilities are clean... read more

Always a fun camping trip. The walking trails are very nice, not un common to spot a deer or two. The swimming beach is also a treat. The last time we even walked through the woods to the brewery.

This park is GORGEOUS in the fall!!! The hiking trails and the overview is fantastic! You could literally spend all day here!

My wife and I visited Flandrau State Park on a quiet, weekday afternoon in early October. We might have been the only ones in the park, and the ranger suggested that we take the Hiker's Club trail. This was a great fall activity, and we saw deer and other wild life. We were told that the trail was a little... More

First the good. Flandrau State Park is a lovely spot in the Cottonwood River. The park is right in the boundary of New Ulm, so it's an easy place to visit. Facilities are clean. The trails are generally easy, though we found one steep climb with stairs. There are several overlooks with good views of the Cottonwood River. Each one... More

Flandrau State park can be summed up in two words: Family Fun! Although my daughter is now a young adult, we really wanted to camp at Flandrau and swim in the sand-bottom chlorine pool, which by the way, is in incredible! It's clean and well maintained. We were there on one of the hottest Fridays of July and it was... More

What a beautiful park! It was easy to get to from the Twin Cities for a little get away. The swimming pool, which is chlorinated and has a sandy bottom, was perfect for a hot day, but it was crowded. I imagine people from the city of New Ulm get day passes and come to swim with their children. Hiking... More

Spent 2 nights in the non-electric camp sites in a tent. Ranger station was nice as was the staff. Ice and firewood available to purchase. We stayed in site 21 close to nice bathroom and showers. Swim pool is so awesome - chlorinated as well. Easy walking path. Overall nice stay for a day and it's in the heart of... More

I enjoyed camping here. Nice park! Enjoyed the "pool" each morning. A few geocaches to top the trip off. Nice picnic areas as well.

This state park is in the middle of the city of New Ulm but you don't feel like you are in town because of the natural woodsy setting. We have camped here for years, and it's always full, so you have to reserve pretty far in advance. There are lots of great hiking trails and the kids love the sand... More
