Our group of six (3 senior couples) visited on a mid-May Thursday. We were disappointed that tours were not being offered and the tasting room was closed. However, one of the staff did open up the museum for us.... very interesting history of the Schell Brewing Company and many interesting exhibits of the brewing craft. Hope you get to see... More

My daughter and I just got back from the tour. It was very basic and they were done bottling for the day. Try to go earlier in the day so you can see the bottling. Best deal in town-$3 for tour, tasting and a glass of beer of your choice:) They also have a nice patio out back to chat... More

I would take about an hour to stroll around and see some very neat old brewing pictured equipment etc.

Nestled in the hills in New Ulm, Minnesota, this was an hour well-spent. Birthed well before the prohibition, this brewery has done two things well. It has stayed in the family, and it has branched into the craft brewing marketing space. It is a nice 40 minute tour followed by a very nice and very generous testing of a number... More

We had friends visiting from northern Minnesota so we took them to Schells. They enjoyed the tour, the beer processing area and all the old buildings. The Brew Pub is a very nice and comfortable place to end the tour. Everyone except me sampled 6 or so of the Schell's products. Turned out that our friend has been a Nordest fan... More

Very worth it to see this oldest Brewing company in MN and 2nd oldest in the US! They do a great job explaining the beers and letting you taste them.

While smaller than places like AB in St. Louis or Coors, the small but quaint brewery has a nice family feel to it and while the tour wasn't all that grand and informative, the sampling room was nice in how they spent the time describing each sample and what to expect, etc.

I take this tour every time I am in New Ulm. The people are friendly and the grounds are very beautiful. There are always peacocks walking around freely. And you have to love the beer tasting at the end!
