We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon on our way through town. Very pretty place with a great history and beautiful old buildings. The tour cost $3 and a very informed guide led us throughout the grounds. There was even a peacock wandering around! The tour was only about a 1/2 hour and the beer tasting was another 1/2 hour.... For only $3 you can get a brief tour of the brewery, the grounds and enjoy a beer tasting which involves 6 tastings and then a 12-ounce beer of your choice while enjoying your surroundings. We were there on Saturday, June 28th. The tour was shorter than normal as it began pouring rain while in the old brewery, so we... More

We visited on Sunday for their Music in the Park event which takes place every Sunday during the summer. The tour was short until we got to the tasting room. They give you a generous sampling of their beers which is well worth the price of the tour. The event in the park was very nice with food, soft drink... More

Schell's relaxing small brewery tour and guides had a more personal touch than the mega-capacity, assembly-line tours I've taken at huge breweries run by Budweiser, Coors, Miller. You can walk around their wooded grounds and lovely flower gardens that surround August Schell's 1880s mansion. A pair of peacocks can be seen strolling the grounds and roosting on roofs. A ticket... Schells brewery never let's me down. From the beautiful grounds, to the wonderful festivals, to the tasting room, and brewery tour, to the peacocks who roam around freely on the grounds. The people working there are so helpful and hospitable and love to share their passion for great German beer with every guest. I definitely recommend making it a stop... More

We chose this attraction as our team building activity. We had an extended tour of the brewery and the surrounding grounds/park. It is in the middle of expansion/renovation which is a good sign to the community. We were fortunate to meet the eldest son of the family who runs the brewery. We had an engaging conversation which led to the... More

Well to begin, the city is a rather small town city but there are things here. I'm an avid brewery visitor from Michigan and I really enjoyed this place. There is a lot of history in the buildings and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining on the tour. As everyone knows, the best part of any brewery tour... More

Beautiful, historic facility with modern updates and immaculate grounds. Come for the view, stay for the tour and beer tasting. Quaint setting in an old world town. And there are amazing root beer samples for the kids.

We took a nice little family tour here. The kids with us were 10, 14 and 16. They also enjoyed going along and seeing everything and had all the FREE 1919 Root beer they could handle, which is another delightful Schell product used during prohibition times. It was a very nice little tour, got to hear interesting facts about the... More

The grounds and gardens are beautiful. It is mostly run by the Marti family that own and operate the brewery. They are all personable, friendly and helpful. They give a great tour with tasting to follow. They hold several festivals on the grounds throughout the year of the same type you would find if visiting Germany. New Ulm and Schells... More
