If you are traveling through New Ulm, this is a must-see. From people taking wedding and graduation photos to complete ceremonies taking place out here. The tour is great as well and the gift shop has something for everyone. The gardens are beautiful right down to the free roaming peacocks.

Second oldest brewery in US still run by the same family (5th generation). Brewery and family home still on original site. Gift shop, museum and free beer tasting at end of tour for those that are of age. Brewed root beer for kids. Family has a long history of interest in music and flowers and so there are extensive flower... More

Visited here in early August and the grounds are delightful. We did not do a tour, we self explored. Saw an awesome Peacock wondering around the family estate, deer and some hungry Chipmunks. There is a nice gift shop and lots of memorabilia regarding the town and brewery. This is a nice day trip especially when the weather is nice.

We took a Tuesday afternoon and arrived at the brewery when it opened. We opted for a 2pm tour. The brewery location is tucked in an area that you wouldn't see by accident. We appreciated the gardens and the authenticity of the buildings, however, we were somewhat disappointed with our tour guide. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he... More

Tour focused more on the history of the brewery than on the beer making process. Got to taste six bears and then order another full beer all for $3. Excellent root beer for the kids!

Having hit many breweries, we went into this expecting the standard type of tour. We didn't expect the deer, peacock, nice garden, and peaceful setting. The tour was informative, well done, and I loved hearing all the history. The staff in the store was very nice and helpful, even hunting down a beautiful stained glass piece out of the storage... The actual guided tour is basically about the history of the brewery, not much about the tech aspects of brewing. The grounds are beautiful; the 25,000 annuals they plant are awesome! After the tour, you get to sample several of their beers. For a mere $3, you can't beat it. The gift shop has lots of great souvenirs also.

The grounds are beautiful. And the tour is only $3. Plus you get to sample lots of beers at the end. However, the tasting/sampling process is rushed and seating somewhat cramped. Also, don't expect to see too much of the brewing kettles or tanks. You basically see a few old buildings inside and out and then have some beer.

My husband and I have been on many brewery tours (at least 15). For tours, this was one of the better ones. We were thankful they didn't spend too much time on the beer making process (been there done that). They did a nice job of explaining the brewery's history. I wasn't a fan of the beer, but the tasting... More

I'm having a tough time with this review because the beer is sub-par; however, the grounds and history are fantastic. I enjoyed the tour, and the 25,000 annuals planted on the grounds every year make this spot very welcoming and nice to stroll around. There's even a trail through the woods that takes you down to the river. Nicely shaded... More
