Maybe it's because where I'm from we have Dams as well but I didn't find this to be anything spectacular. Would be a neat way to teach kids, but for a group of adults, there are a million better things to do in Minneapolis. The area itself is really nice and I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood much more than... More

Love going through the dam. Very interesting to see all that water and watch the fill and empty it. Have been through in a boat and it was exciting and a learning experince.

Great place to take the kids and watch the boats. Has a nice interpretive center. It is kept clean and can be a wonderful educational experience for kids and adults alike.

Exploring the lock and dam with kids can be free fun and some learning besides. You can walk over portions of the locks and enter the viewing deck for expansive views of the Mississippi River and the banks on both sides. If you are in luck, a boat will come and you can watch the operation of the locks as... More

The lock and dam is a very interesting place if you take the time to explore it. Access is a little tricky. You need to drive or walk down from West River Parkway down a long ramp that starts just north of the Ford Bridge.

I don't understand why this is even on a list to be rated. You go and no one is there. It's just a little dam alone with nothing to see.

Great Views along with stone arch bridge and river front. Parking during the week is easy and only costs you a $1. This is a must see for visitors.

Easy parking, feel like your in the wilderness. Great signage. You can watch a lock work. There is a wild life area, with great bird watching.

We happened upon Lock and Dam #1 when we were biking on the River Road Trail. What started as a quick side trip turned into a very interesting and educational hour. The lock and dam are open to the public and are free. We did not get to see the lock in action but it is still a very impressive... More
