The bandshell is a Minneapolis icon, and there's a wide variety of entertainment throughout the summer - movies, bands, folk singing. We went on my birthday with the dog to enjoy Bread and Pickle and watch a band. A lovely, relaxed evening.

I can't make it through a month from April through November without walking around Lake Harriet, and letting the kids run around the band shell. Take the kids to Sebastion Joe's in Lyndon Hills for some of the best homemade ice cream that you have ever tasted while you are at it. It is always worth a stop at the... More

Seen from a distance, the bandshell seems to float on the edge of the lake, a Victorian holdover. It is in fact much newer, built to replace a smaller, less- usable version within the last 30 years. The back of the covered stage is glass, and the audience can continue to observe sailboats, joggers, and other activities while enjoying the... More

This beautiful band shell is a city treasure!!! It has a see through back, so one can watch a concert and look at sail boats float around lake Harriet, all at the same time. The most amazing part is that it hosts a FREE concert every night of the summer. Some are amazing and you just know the next time... More

In fact, this place is quite boring. there are some summer concerts that are nearly impossible to enjoy due to mosquitoes (you can watch concerts on local TV if you prefer it that way). Otherwise it has some bathrooms that are mysteriously locked most of the time. In the winter, the place is utterly useless.

This is one of the nicest summer experiences Mpls has to offer. On the right night, the free concerts are a welcome break. Come early, bring a blanket or cushion to put on the wooden benches or ground. Lots of food available to buy, or bring your own. Lovely.

Tucked away in one of the city's many parks, the Lake Harriet Bandshell hosts free nightly concerts by area musicians. Always well attended concerts cover the spectrum of the vibrant Twin Cities musical community -- classical, big band, blue grass, folk, rock, jazz. I recently attended a concert and enjoyed the wonderful music plus the audience's ballroom dancing. Parking can... More

Lovely Setting for Opera Under The Stars. Sadly it was heaving and the sound system was about as loud as an iPhone at 200 feet.
