I am always drawn to churches when I travel. Basilica of St. Mary is one of the most beautiful churched I have seen. Of course nothing compares to St Peters Basilica in Rome. as we entered the church, a wedding was be performed..it was amazingly beautiful.

What a city icon! It's as if it is welcoming everyone to downtown at the entrance of Hennepin Avenue. The church is beautifully restored and maintained. It truly defines the Loring Park area and the city.

Didn't expect such a large beautiful basilica in downtown Minneapolis. Was a nice surprise to wander in here one day on the way to the art museum. Can really see the love for the parish here; well -kept and just glorifies God in its beauty. Worth a stop

Have experienced Easter and Christmas season masses (including Christmas Eve midnight mass) in this church. Beautiful, authentic experiences. If you attend the traditional mass, you'll experience unmatched, beautiful choral, instrumental and organ music o the highest caliber. Stay after the mass for the organist's featured piece. Make sure you tour the entire building - especially the area behind the altar.

A must see for historical and breathtaking admiration of architecture. If you watched pillars of the earth, you get it!

I think St. Mary's is on the short-list of landmarks to see when in Minneapolis. The architecture is unlike anything I have ever seen in Europe.

We combined an end-to-end-and-back-again driving tour of Summit Avenue with a 20 minute walk through the Basilica. Summit Avenue is a treat with some honkin' huge Victorian and early 20th Century mansions up and down its length. the Basilica has plenty of parking when there is no service or other gathering in progress. The granite byzantine exterior is overwhelming. Huge... More

OK, it's not a on par with the great churches of Europe, but it is beautiful, especially if you are lucky enough to attend a flower-filled service.

The very first attraction I saw while walking along Hennepen Street from my downtown hotel is this Basilica. It is located on a hilly area so I could easily see it as I walked on. There was no mass going on when I arrived so it was dim inside. The altar is beautiful and it reminded me of some of... More
