Beautiful basilica in downtown Minneapolis

Gorgeous... Welcoming to visitors. Frequently undergoing renovations - can sometimes obstruct views but kept in great condition.

Lovely classic cathedral. It's also the site of the Crashed Ice annual event and it is really magnificent.

I stopped by for 7:30am Mass on Sunday. I got there early so I would have time to just enjoy. I am glad I did. the Basilica of St Mary is beautiful, very ornate. This may seem odd but the thing I was most impressed about was the singer at the Mass. She has a beautiful voice! I could have... More

This cathedral is a treasure! I had never heard anything about it, before stumbling on the listing here. A friend and I had just one day following our conference to spend seeing sights in Minneapolis. Once we realized it was Monday and the museums we'd hoped to see were closed, we put a walking tour together and chose the Basilica... More

This is perhaps the most beautiful church I've been in in the U.S. and rivals those of Europe. I love the stained glass windows of Old Testament characters, stained glass windows with Stations of the Cross and the statuary, including the statue of Mary staring down from the canopy over the altar.

We toured the Basilica as part of an informal Twin Cities architectural tour. It happened to be on Christmas Eve. It was awe-filled, and decorated in Christmas glory. The music, the architecture, the beauty were all breathtaking.

traveled for a convention and spent time wandering downtown and stopped in to St Mary's - beautiful Downtown was so clean and even thought it was hot a breeze helped cool us down

The Basilica is beautiful from the outside, but nothing prepared me for the incredibly beautiful, detailed, ornate interior. I was awed by the stained glass, detailed ceiling, and the large marble altar. Yet somehow, nothing about the church felt gaudy or cold - to the contrary, the basilica maintains an accessible, parish feel. I would love to experience a service... More

The Basilica of St. Mary is impressive. We recommend the Sunday 9:30 Mass which includes the music and the 50+ member choir. There is a Basilica tour available after Mass. The tour guide does give explanations of the Basilica windows and that is important to hear.

This is a beautiful church, and they do offer tours after certain masses. The mass we went to had a large choir and lots of participants. We were just tourists, but the congregation does seem to be involved heavily in outreach in the area.
