I was in Minneapolis for 2 weeks in 2014 and in 2015 and with harsh winters at negative degrees I am able to walk everywhere I needed without going outside to the negative degree weather... just a point about MN is that most shops and stores close early and also the skyway does close earlier on weekends so be careful... Great way to get around downtown during the chilly winter months! It is fun for visitors too, just make sure you have a sense of where you are going- it can be easy to get turned around!

if you want to get around without freezing in Minneapolis, the Skyway is the way to go. There really isn't anything you can't get to from the Skyway. It is like being in a City within a City. It has it's own culture, atmosphere, etc. Would definitely recommend taking the Skyway at least once in your life.

As a Minneapolis resident, the skyway system is essential to commuting and getting around downtown in the winter. It provides warmth and allows you to relax a little and even enjoy a bite to eat from one of the many restaurants located there. It's relatively easy to navigate with the maps, so there's no fear of getting lost.

The skyway System, offers an unique and fun different experience where at different spots you can play a few holes of mini golf. The "fairways' are interesting in and themselves- example, one is made out of a door- just something a little different to do

The sky way lets you get all over downtown Minneapolis. It has good coffee shops and stores so you can shop, drink coffee, and get your nails done of the way to work. Just remember some of the bridges close as early a 7pm so bring your coat if you are going out to dinner!

We enjoyed getting from the Hyatt Regency to the Convention Center without our coats on. Only one problem, they had promised to leave the skywalks open late on Sat so we could get back after the dance awards ended after midnight. We managed to get almost to our hotel and could not get in. Fortunately it was only across the... More

Wherever you go downtown Mpls in late Fall or Winter you will appreciate the Skyway System. You can get so many places and the shops and food choices within are great. Very safe and well guided. A must see if in Mpls.
