When I first started going here it was great, I think the staff has ways of handling things. Overall I would recommend because the tickets are fair. Just try not to make a scene and the staff will leave you alone.

I've been to this venue 3 times. Twice someone in our group was kicked out by security. The 1st time we were here it was a great show with no issues. The 2nd time we were there, my wife was bumped into by a security guy coming down the stairs. The security guy quickly forced her out of the venue... More

This venue is a great place to see a concert. The sightlines are great no matter where you stand. The sound system is pretty good. The place got a new ceiling and they cleaned up a bit. The beer prices do very depending on what show you see, which is really weird. Overall this is a great place to see... More

What a great venue to see a band! It is intimate enough to allow for great views of the performer/artist, but at a very affordable price! It is an institution in Minneapolis and a landmark rock-n-roll venue. A few things to keep in mind: 1) it is general admission, so prepare to stand for the duration. There are few tables/stools... Bought my d'angelo ticket a month in advance. I was at first ave a few days previos. The head of security tried to humiliate me and talk and act agressively for no reason. It's sad to see things like that at such an iconic establishment. The security though, worst in the whole twin cities. It's like they let angry teenagers... More

I just saw my first concert here (The Vamps, The Tide and BYE) with my 15 year old daughter, and all I could think of was, "why did I wait so long?" The tickets are cheap and the venue lets you get close. Its loud, its full of energy, and is just what a concert should be. I will be... More

Parking can be tricky if other events are going on in the city. Good sound quality but not fabulous. There are some standing areas that offer rails for leaning on the ground floor but if you are early often you can grab a hold of the upstairs seating.

Where can you see James Murphy DJ for twenty bucks? Strong drinks at fair prices, tickets priced to move, solid sight lines from almost everywhere and a pulse on what music is happening now have to come make First Avenue my favorite music venue. It may not have it's Purple Rain luster but it reigns in Minneapolis as a venue.... More

I took my teenage daughter to see an all ages show. It's a fantastic venue because the sound is spectacular and the sight lines unbelievably good. She was on the floor the whole time, and I walked around and got great views from many spots upstairs and downstairs. I felt that she was safe, and the entrance to the bar... More

Went here on a Fri in May to see a band. It was a little difficult to get here due to a Twins game that night, but there is parking right across the street. The venue has a bar area upstairs and getting a drink was never an issue (credit cards accepted). We used the coat check too ($3 I... More
