This is a great lake with wonderful trails and scenic houses. Enjoy the restaurants of Uptown and nearby Calhoun Square. There are places to rent paddle boats, paddle boards, canoes and sailboats. There are boat launches, but only trawling motors or sailboats allowed.

The Lake is well connected to the trail system and easy to bike or walk to. The sidewalk around the lake is divided for pedestrians and bikes/roller blades. It only goes clockwise. (o: We love to stop at the Tin Fish for a snack and a drink, then go sit on the dock for a while and watch the sailboats.... More

Lake Calhoun is a wonderful city lake great for walking, running or even fishing. Gets crowded in Spring as Minneapolis recovers from Winter. But by June it calms down and is one of the joys of this city.

Lake Calhoun is, for many newcomers to the Twin Cities, one of the first city lakes they "discover" and come to love. It's smack dab in the middle of a thriving uptown area, known for it's young, hip crowds, shops and restaurants. They have paddle boats, kayaks and other water toys for rent (no sailboats, though...) and they are always... More

We visited the Uptown area after being suggested to by many others, and enjoyed walking/jogging around the lakes. Uptown seems very nice in that there are a lot less homeless people lounging around begging for money. It seems like they are confined to the downtown area, so this was refreshing! Beautiful lake with a great view of downtown Minneapolis.

The walking and biking paths around the lake are always congested and filled with people exercising. I guess there's nothing particularly wrong with this-if that's the atmosphere you enjoy. Honestly-wasn't my thing. If you want somewhere to just relax in a calming environment-this is most certainly NOT the place. Many gangs hanging around in the police patrolled parking lots-I cut... Nice big lake. You can bike or walk around it, or drive with you car around it. Seperate bike and walking lanes make it nice. There are small beaches where you can enjoy the sun and the water in summer. You can rent canoos and little sailingboats.

Lake Calhoun offers an urban yacht club, a sailing school for kids, a number of swimming beaches, sand volley ball, roller blading, canoe rentals, stand up paddle board rentals and plenty of fun. If you get hungry or thirsty you can grab a bite at the Tin Fish during summer months. Parking can be a bit difficult to find, but... More

Love this lake! In a very dense part of Uptown, it's easily accessible and always open! I love walking it and people watching. It gets super busy in the afternoon/evenings, almost annoyingly so. There's a beach, sailboats, canoes, playgrounds, a concession stand and more. Great place for families, couples, friends to hang and socialize. But I wouldn't choose it for... More

Lake Calhoun is one of the chain of lakes located in Uptown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was a privilege for me to see this lake encompassing a radius of five kilometers. It is circularly shaped were you can go around the lake to run, jog, bike and just walk around to admire the view. It has a swimming area but I would... More
