I loved the breeze at lake Calhoun. Its the feel of freedom. One can spend a whole evening sitting there and just be with themselves. Very nice and inspiring place for artists.

We wanted to sit on a bench and people watch. What a wonderful place to do just that. The lake is beautiful. We were lucky to be there when the weather was perfect. Dog walkers, bike riders, boaters, walkers, joggers, groups, singles, babies, teens, couples. All of it. Great place to kick back and enjoy life.

One of the great sights in Minneapolis-St Paul, Lake Calhoun would be a tourist's delight- we visited and walked around the lake after a nice brunch on a weekend in May. There is also a "beach" area where you see people getting some sun. Great place for a walk, bringing pets and having a relaxed afternoon. Kayak/ boat rentals are... More

Whether you are looking for a nice walk or a jog or looking to ride your bike there is a great trail system around this lake. There are several places to pay and park and some free parking along the street that goes around the lake too. The side streets also have parking. This trail system is seperated between the... More

I rented a kayak on Lake Calhoun and was pleasantly surprised to learn that several lakes are connected making for a magnificent leisurely kayaking experience. The morning was capped off with a delicious fish taco from Tin Fish for lunch. Get there early...the lineups can be long and slow.

You can rent kayaks, paddle-boards, paddle-boats, and all sorts of other water gear by the hour, there's a nice little food stand where they have fish and icecream. Its just perfect for summer time! Stuff to do, food to eat, and beautiful area!

Lots of hiking, biking, boating and just plain people watching opportunities. Worth going to Minneapolis famous lakes to get a feel for what Minnesotans do on a sunny day.

Lake Calhoon seems to be the busiest of the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. Almost a perfect 5k around, and hopping beaches. Restrooms could use a makeover, but at least they are there.

This lake has a three-mile walking path around it. There are separate lanes for the walkers and the bikers, so watch for the icons painted on the surface. One can also elect to veer off along a bridge underpass to the neighborhood immediately north of the lake. Always lots of walker, joggers, or stroller-pushers, with people of all ages. Several... I wouldn't swim here but the lake itself is right at the edge of the hip part of town which makes is great for any meal followed or preceeded by a walk around the lake. Only about 3ish miles, it is a quick stroll around the beautiful area of Uptown. You can rent canoes or kayaks or even paddle boats!... More
