Take time to stretch your legs with a leisurely walk around the lake. Take a picnic basket for lunch, sit and watch the birds, boats and people strolling around the lake. Walk up to Calhoun square for some great shopping.

I try to walk around lake calhoun a few times a week. Winter can be challenging as they only keep the top (bike) lane plowed. Always safe to walk around anytime of the day or night. The views of the Minneapolis skyline are amazing on a sunny or cloudy day. The crowd is a bit of everything. This is not... More

Walking trails are great to bike or walk around lakes. Plenty of seating around lakes to people watch.

Lake Calhoun (and the other connecting lakes) are the jewels of the Twin City metro area! By far this is the busiest and most used park area in the city. Summer beckons all forms of recreation from sailing, kayaking (rentals available), biking, in line skating, walking and running. Winter offers cross country skiing, hockey, ice skating as well as walking... More

I recommend a walk to Lake of the Isles and canoeing through the chain of lakes. Rent a bike to bike the Greenway. The greenway paths share the best of both worlds with access to Uptown and Downtown as well as connecting to West River Parkway.

Calhoun is by far the most urban - and busiest - of all the lakes in this "City of Lakes." Yes, it's sometimes crowded, and yes, parking can be challenging at times, but the people watching combined with the natural beauty of the lake contrasted with the man-made beauty of the nearby downtown skyline make this lake and surrounding park,... I've caught and released many alb bass from this lake and there are some great Pike and absolutely huge 60+ inch Muskie cruising the weed edges here. In the spring the shallows on the lake of the Isle side of the bridge provide decent pre-spawn action, as does most of the area between and connecting the 2 lakes

Take about an hour to walk around the lake but stay on the walkway. This area is well known for Joggers and bicyclists. Parking is horrendous but if manage to find a spot somewhere in the Uptown area take advantage of it! Start out at Tin Fish, grab some sea food and start walking. 3 beaches to take advantage of... As we locals look at it lake Calhoun is in the middle of the chain of lakes. It is almost perfectly round, and if you want to swim across it it is about a mile. It is a lot easier to walk around, however. It absorbs seemingly thousands of people walking both ways, so you have loads of people watching,... More

We lived at one time on Lake Calhoun, it is quite magical. Perfect to take a great walk or sail, or any other lake activities. It is a busy area at all times of the year. Great restaurant tin fish open during the summer and fall, always busy.would recommend to all ages to enjoy.
