All of the lakes are beautiful. It is a local past time to walk around a lake on a nice day. It is so nice to have nature right in the middle of the city.

I love to be able to get on the chain of lakes and never leave a bike path. The loop around Harriet, Calhoun and Isles is about 10 miles which is a fun quick trip.
I really like to walk these paths. Nice sun, benches to rest, and scenic. Also close to Lake st which is right on the bus line.
As a resident, I value the chain of lakes. Each has its own personality. Isles is quiet and peaceful, Calhoun is where college and HS kids hangout in the summer, and Harriet is family-friendly and great for outdoor concerts and movies. Walking the Chain of Lakes should not be missed. During the summer you can stop by Lake Calhoun and have a bite to eat and a Beer at Tin Fish. It's about 2 mile around a lake and it is paved so walking is easy.
Fun for our daughters and husband to run around the lakes. My daughter also takes her two golden retrievers for walks, summer and winter.

You can make the grand...

Local residents love to walk, sit by, swim, sail, canoe and even fish (not me!) our "inner-city lakes" of Calhoun, Lake Harriet and Lake of the Isles in the summer, but they are beautiful in the winter, too!
Minneapolis is inspired in the trails that wind around Chain of Lakes, just southwest of the downtown. Don't miss the opportunity to walk, run, roller blade, bike, etc around these scenic waterways. The people watching is unparalleled.
