A favorite walk to bring my out-of-town guests on. Each lap around each lake is about 3 miles, making it ideal for 5k and 10k running practice as well.

All beaches are great and have playgrounds nearby. Ample street parking. If you're in the lot remember to pay at the box! Discount card for kayak rental works at all lakes. If you don't like sun in your eyes in the afternoon go to Lake Nokomis.

If you just grab a map or ask a local, you can find a great path to walk, run, bike, canoe, kayak, swim, listen to music, picnic, etc., The chain of lakes in Minneapolis start minutes from downtown and take you for miles (if you wish). The lakes are connected by pathways and parkways and the beauty is endless. I... More

The chain of Harriet, Calhoun and Lake of the Isles is a fitness persons dream. Smooth paved paths, usually away from the traffic, makes for a great workout with great scenery. I used to live in Minneapolis and I can honestly say, these lakes are what I miss most. :(

Minneapolis is beautiful and the addition of the Lakes make it even more so. Lots to do in the area around the lakes.

Any one of the lakes is a great place for a walk, run, bike, picnic, people watching, you name it. Being a Minneapolis resident, one of my favorite things to do is kayak around Lake of the Isles and through the channel to Cedar Lake.

Biking, running, walking and people watching... This is a place to set up a great day or evening. There are outdoor concerts at the band shell on Lake Harriet, fishing from various shores, swimming, rental boats, biking around four different lakes all connected by paved paths, and then move to the nearby Uptown rooftop restaurants. If you are a visitor... More

We did a whole day bike with a local around these lakes and many parks in the Minneapolis-St Paul area. I have never seen anything like the great network of trails in the area. Amazing.

a chain goes 10 miles+ and has paced bike road and a separated walk/jog path. Always clean and very safe. There are several stops for water and restrooms along the way. 7-8 mins ride from Downtown Minneapolis

Part of the charm of the city-- connected by a series of bike/walking paths that take you around the lakes and points beyond.
