Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory." Good value for a mid-level performance. Lot of seats open for this event during the week. They go on sale 1/2 hour before opening act. You don't have to dress, there are some beverage and food service available. The theater has several concurrent plays in smaller stage auditoriums. I like that.

It was a lovely quick bite to get in the upper floor of the Guthrie. The food was good but not overpriced as it is the bistro. If you want something nicer, they have great options around there but you can't beat the location and the price if you are going to a show.

Over many years I have attended plays at the Guthrie. It is always, without fail, outstanding theater. Sets are unique, costumes beautiful to sumptuous or time appropriate, acting superb. I feel so lucky to be able to experience this wonderful place.

The views of the Mississippi are spectacular from the "bridge" and from the top floor lounge. Located in the "mill district" made famous by all the brand name U.S. baking flour companies, It's almost the head of the River and best view of the falls created for hydoelectric power for the old mills. Excellent view of the landscape below design... More

Although I did not go to the Guthrie for a show, the guy at the box office was very friendly and invited me to walk through the building as all the lobbies are public. He told me to be sure to go to the 9th floor for the view. I had noticed the unique building on my trip to see... More

Located in downtown Minneapolis, the Guthrie theater is synonymous with the heartbeat of the city- theater and musicals..we went to a musical on a Friday evening- really nice neighborhood within walking distance to various spots in town. There are a couple of nice restaurants below, the theater itself overlooks the mill city museum, the stone arch bridge, and the Mississippi.... More

Enjoyed this attraction more than I expected. The views were great. We especially enjoyed seeing the stone bridge from the Guthrie's viewing deck. Did not take long, but it was well worth the stop.

White Snake excellent production. One of the best we have seen. Great talent. Funny and wholesome. The trio of musicians were also very good. The gift shop was very nice with a great selection. The employees/volunteers were friendly and helpful. Very reasonably priced tickets. Highly recommend that show
