THE GUTHRIE THEATER is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, known for its dynamic productions of classic and contemporary plays. Open to the public year-round, this award-winning cultural destination houses three theaters, dramatic public spaces and distinctive dining.

Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory."

Visit the Guthrie to see a show, grab a cup of coffee and explore the building, shop at the Guthrie Store, or to simply take in the extraordinary riverfront views. Backstage tours are Friday and Saturday mornings.

I went here with my friends to watch the musical The Music Man! The Theater offers a unique point of view on Minneapolis through a fantastic balcony. I suggest to everyone to look at it. The interiors are amazing and the sound diffusion during the musical were perfect!

If you are visiting the twin cities, and don't have time to take in a show you can still slip in a quick tourist stop and enjoy the view over the Mississippi River, locks and historic Stone arch bridge especially magical in the evening with the twinkle of the city lights. Consider taking advantage of their discounted "rush" tickets the... More

I have seen 5 productions at The Guthrie, loved them all. The talent is so good! Sets are usually amazing. Level 5 cafe is nice and we always done first! Staff can be crabby.

I've seen three plays at the Guthrie over the last year. The Crucible was the best of the three. In all three cases I had a difficult time enjoying the show because of the seating. The view from our seats was definitely good. However, the seats seem smaller with less leg room than airplane seating. Long before intermission, my legs... More

You cannot find a better theater in the midwest! This performance company knows how to thrill any audience with outstanding casts, delightful orchestras, and the most amazing sets and props you've ever seen. Between performances, enjoy the architecture of the building itself, with its cantilevered Endless Bridge, restaurants, or one of its many wine bars. This elegant venue makes for... More

A classy facility with beautiful views. Fun to see a live show. The seats are tight for me (6' 2" 220 lbs.). I think most seats are good seats since they are small theaters. Brought our own beverages (since I'm a cheap-wad!). No one seemed to have an issue since I could close the top. Our next visit will be... More

We love the Guthrie. So easy to get to and plenty of parking. We have seen two shows here and both were phenomenal. A Christmas Carol and The Music Man. Kids also loved both!

I definitely recommend making the time to take in a show at the Guthrie Theater for anyone who is visiting from out of town, or for locals, for that matter! With, or without children (depending on the shows being performed). I am a native Minnesotan, but have lived in Lafayette, Louisiana for 20+ years. One of my fondest memories from... More

We have a beautiful Theater in the perfect spot in our city. Come early and grab a drink to enjoy looking out over the city and river from the patio. There isn't a bad seat in the house and I have been to two of the theater's within the Guthrie. I have

My wife and I have had season tickets to the Guthrie Theater for over 10 years, seeing at least 5 to 6 productions every year. The acting in some of the greatest you'll ever experience in the country. Every year at least one or two full musicals are staged which will knock your sock off. We've often been so impressed...
