Owner description: THE GUTHRIE THEATER is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, known for its dynamic productions of classic and contemporary plays. Open to the public year-round, this award-winning cultural destination houses three theaters, dramatic public spaces and distinctive dining. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory." Visit the Guthrie to see a show, grab a cup of coffee and explore the building, shop at the Guthrie Store, or to simply take in the extraordinary riverfront views. Backstage tours are Friday and Saturday mornings.

We have seen several shows at the Guthrie. It is a wonderful place to visit. It is festive and always fun. The Christmas Carol was a wonderful night. The setting on the Mississippi River is beautiful. In the summer, it is fun to walk outside and see the views of downtown Minneapolis. There are several restaurants within the Guthrie -... More

My Wife and I are in Minneapolis for a week to Christmas Shop at the Mall of America. We were asking about a show and The Guthrie Theater was recommended to us. We found tickets on Stub Hub for A Christmas Carol. It was the most amazing show we have ever seen, we both agreed it was One of the... More

The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis Minnesota was founded by Tyrone Guthrie and others in 1963 in an attempt to create a great theatre far removed from the commercial pressure of Broadway in New York City. We have gone to the Guthrie several times in the last few years at the invitation of our daughter and son-in-law who live in Minneapolis.... More

They have free head sets which I find very comfortable. I can now hear every tiny whisper through the head sets. Every seat we have had in both theaters seems to have a great view.

The quality of productions clearly is impressive. The view of the Mississippi is stunning, night or day. My problem is not with the plays but with the painfully inadequate leg room in the Wurtele Thrust Stage theater. I don't know how I managed to sit through an entire play without leaping out of my seat and shouting, in a theatrical... More

If you want to see a world-class theater production, attend a play at the Guthrie! Also, the building itself, located alongside the Mississippi, is a must-see. The views from the endless bridge are beautiful. There are several theaters in the building, the Wurtle Thrust stage and the McGuire Prosenium, plus the Dowling Studio, which are often simultaneously presenting different plays.... More

This timeless show has a great cast. Each time I see it I see something new. Not only is the acting great, the dances and songs add so much more to the show. Even the young children do their part in playing children of Victorian England.

This is a must-do if you're spending more than 3 days in the Twin Cities. I see shows here several times a year and have never been disappointed.

I saw The Cocktail Hour this past weekend. One of the best shows I have seen in years. I especially recommend to baby boomers as it takes place in late 70's. I even became nostalgic for the 70's - the decade this play transpires. Theatre is always a treat. Everything I see there is good. The Cocktail Hour happens to... More

We are Twin City area outer circle suburbanites, so get to the Guthrie quarterly. It is a beautiful venue with awesome views of the city and the Mississippi River. We have never been disappointed by a performance. The ushers are always warm and helpful. If you live here, experience it. If you are visiting, it is a do not miss... More
