Wow has this place gone to pot. I remember desiring to come here, taking a cab even, from the airport on longer layovers. No need to do that anymore. It's dead.

Besides a few inviting restaurants with outdoor eating between 10th and 11th street, I was unimpressed by the Nicollet Mall. My husband and I did not see any store worth stopping as you could find them in your own hometown mall (Macy's, Marshall's, etc.) I expected some mom and pop or artsy stores but everything was commercial. I was also... More

This has always been our favorite shopping and eating location in Minneapolis. There are a great variety of stores and restaurants, and is well-served by the Skyway system and plenty of public transit. Personally, I much prefer the ambiance of a busy city center over a traditional mall.

There were many great-looking eating places on Nicollet Mall, but besides that there were a few chain department stores and that seemed like about it. I was hoping for more unique, interesting, trendy shoppes and boutiques. The Nicollet Mall experience really fell below my expectations.

We expected the same old variety of stores in an enclosed and probably multistory structure. We were surprised to find that the mall was an area several blocks in size with shops and restaurants (many with outdoor seating). This arrangement eliminates all the crowds you'd expect indoors. Since it was warm outside, 80 in fact, walking through the area was... More

Area has lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Great atmosphere from street vendors with with food to flowers. Feels family friendly and would come back again.

This area is nothing like we expected. I realize that the term 'mall' has more than one meaning, but when the description refers to places to shop, it implies some type of 'shopping mall', which is not what we found this area to be. We had intended to spend most of our afternoon here, but were ready to leave after... More

Initially envisioned as a concept to distinguish city space and urban living (not long after the first 'shopping centers' in the country being built in the Twin Cities), the Mall was iconic. But over time it has become tired and not the focal point of unique city development. I've lived on the Mall for 20+ years and change is coming... More

This is a district with LOTS of restaurants, cafes and lounges. You can enjoy sitting on a patio or inside. It is super trendy and has a great atmosphere. Nicollet Mall, is not really a mall. Its an area with stores with street front access. Its not a mall (aka building with many stores inside). The highlight is Macys, Marshalls... More

Honestly, the only time this place lives is during the happy hour in early evening. Nicollet Mall has a potential to be one of the great city streets that would radiate with life. But the business owners that line the street are not too eager to cater to the locals with low income. Instead, they tend to focus on the... More
