This theater with its one screen manages to show a wide variety of movies in a single day, from kiddie matinees on the weekends to more adult movies in the evenings and sometimes special screenings of older movies or short films from the awards season. The price is right for both the movie and the popcorn and the seating is... More

This is the theater I used to ride my bike to for Saturday matinees when I was a kid (which was a very long time ago). Little has changed since then except the technology advances. It was built in 1948 and had stadium seating before anyone knew what that was. $3 for adults, $2 for kids, reasonably priced concessions. This... More

The Riverview Theatre is small, shows films after they have been off the initial circuit, is located in a cute little neighborhood, and has the very best popcorn ever. This is historic theatre at its finest!

I don't frequent the Riverview - but every time I go there I am reminded of why I love it. I always make it to the Oscar nominated documentary shorts and am glad that they are willing to host films, that other theatres do not. The decor in there is a blast from the past. The staff are friendly and... More

I had a wonderful afternoon waiting for my flight back home from KC. I saw "Monuments Men" for $2 with great popcorn and the 50s original decor. The theatre is so beautiful and preserved...a must see in Minneapolis !!

From 1940's/50's decor in lobby to great deals on popcorn, and plenty of seating in old-fashioned theatre, go to a discount film here and support this gem!! I have seen 75-100 films here and it is a great value with great sight lines and comfortable seats.

This theater is a south Minneapolis institution showing recent movies at discounted prices. Unlike the "megaplex" theaters, this is old school with a nice BIG screen and comfortable seats. As a bonus, they often show very limited run and independent movies on special nights. Where else was I going to see Ministry's live concert movie "FIX"?!? Nowhere but at the... More

What a movie night used to be like - a couple hours of entertainment without the commitment of driving to the suburbs and spending $50+. Great employees, great food (especially the popcorn), low prices, and modern projection/sound equipment in a comfortable, stylish classic theater setting. A neighborhood and city-wide treasure.

Love the stadium seating, love the ticket sellers, and the concession people, super friendly, best made fresh popcorn with real butter! Love, the location, and the theatre makes me feel like I was a child again. Just good karma.

Just a few blocks from my husbands childhood home and full of character. We try to see a movie here when we can and love the charm of the theater.
