Great museum. Very nice rooms and amazing collections. I particularly appreciated their Asian section.

Check first to see if your favorites are on display. Some great gems are still there though, and should continue to be great.

Large collection of arts from all over the world from Stone Age to modern history. The Chinese Qing Dynastic architecture is very impressive. Highly recommended for all ages and everyone who may or may not like museum, just allocate your time accordingly. Kids may find it boring after an hour but you never know... Note the museum close on Monday.

If you enjoy art and are in the Twin Cities - go! - even for an hour or so. Brilliant audio tours and exhibits, and all for a donation. The examples of the impressionists like Corot are truly marvellous (many from the Hill House in St. Paul, another great place to visit) as are the medieval art and some great... More

The Minneapolis Institute of arts is in a great part of the city. MIA often has paid exhibits, but the collection is largely free. It is spacious and allows for a leisurely visit. There is a great, reasonably priced cafe as well. Be sure to take the time to appreciate the views of the city as well as MIA has... More

The art and the museum were beautiful. If I was alone or with a group of adults this trip would have been enjoyable. However, I came with two well behave children; children that have been to world class museums before. The children were not running, screaming, touching, or causing a scene. There were other family with children that were also... More

Favorite sightseeing stop in Minneapolis (and there are lots of options)! Wonderful and varied collection of art. My husband and I in particular enjoyed the photography and impressionist paintings. The building itself is beautiful. There is a nice little coffee and snack shop downstairs. Admission is free! Parking was easy. Highly recommend.

I have been to a lot of museum and this clearly is top-rung. A very eclectic collection presented in what seems hundreds of rooms. We split up and each spent 6 hours touring the museum and barely scratched the surface. There are prominent places I never found, but I had run out of time and energy. Luckily they do have... More

I've visited many famous museums, but this was a special experience. Ample lesser known works by big-name artists (Rubens, El Greco, Monet) that are almost more enjoyable because you haven't seen them in books or movies, Excellent period rooms as well.
