If you're in Minneapolis, you HAVE to go here. Definitely plan to stay at least 2-3 hours to see (almost) everything. I have been here 3 times and still find new things to see (was here the 3rd time for 4 hours..). Plus, it's free. And, super easy to get to if you don't have a car! I have nothing... More

We are lucky to have such a large, comprehensive art museum available FREE to anyone who cares to take part. Special exhibits have a charge, but even this can be avoided on Thursday evenings, when the museum is open till 9:00, and everyone is a member for the evening. Third Thursdays have special themes, with entertainment and a party atmosphere.... More

I visit the Minneapolis Institute of Arts about once a year as I live quite a few hours from Mpls. This is always a treat to see. One can see artifacts from several thousand years ago to artifacts produced in the last year. While I only spent 2 hours there today, it takes a full day if not longer to... More

What's not to love? great permanent exhibits could keep you busy for several visits and the temporary exhibits are always creative and worth the extra time and cost. They even have easy parking.

I love listening to the knowledgeable docents - they add so much flavor and color and insight to each piece of art as they articulate over it - Also wonderful- you can use your smart phone as a guide, with much of the same information a docent will provide- GENIUS!

We loved this museum. Beautiful building by McKim, Mead & White, and some terrific art & artifacts. The collections are diverse and yet highly curated as well.

This is a great museum full of surprises. Juxtaposed paintings help one compare old with very modern. Many interesting exhibits. Great Japanese collection including a tea house.

I have never been to a museum I have liked more. It has an amazing and eclectic collection but not overwhelming so you just about can see it all in one day. And it is free so if you want to come back the next day you can! The Asian art was especially amazing as was the Native American collection.... More

We only spent a few hours there, but what we saw was wonderful! My husband loved the Asian exhibits, I loved seeing the coat of arms and so much more. Best of all it's free so you can spend just an hour or two at a time and not feel like you didn't get your money's worth. Definitely check it... More

This museum has a lot to see, can't really go through the whole thing in one day if you are looking at items in depth. The staff are usually helpful and very friendly. Entry is free though some special exhibits have a cost. They offer tours (free) during the day which are usually good; it depends on the docent/guide. There... More
