If you like art you could spend hours here, and I advise taking it by sections, at a nice leisurely pace, and planning a return trip for what you don't have time for since admission is free. That's right, FREE! There is also FREE parking nearby! It is a beautiful place, with a lot of art pieces. If you are... More

As others have said the free admission is amazing and the parking was but $6 for all day. The interactive exhibits for kids was most impressive. With all of the news reporting on Muslim activities, I wanted to see the museum's Islam Exhibit. We found the courtesy map and directional signs inside the museum to be inadequate. We had to... During this year the MIA will have 52 surprises such at the first which is the showing of "Woman in Blue Reading a Letter by Vermeer and exhibits such as "The Hapsburgs: Rarely Seen Masterpieces from Europe's Greatest Dynasty". In addition there is a great exhibit of American Modern artists.

We were enthralled with the Italian Style exhibit as I attended with my 2 young adult daughters. Cost was $20 each. Since we all appreciate the design and clothes it was an excellent exhibit. How wonderful that this exhibit could be experienced here in the USA. Many years ago we also attended the Native American special exhibit, and wish that... More

If you are in the Twin Cities and enjoy art (ancient to modern), do not miss a visit to this amazing place. It is hard to believe that admission is FREE. It is a treasure.

We took three young children to visit the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and had a wonderful time. This is a very family friendly art museum. There are play areas for children and a baby/toddler play room. There's a wonderful snacking area with comfortable chairs on the main floor. Children are invited to do a scavenger hunt, looking for various things... More

We love the Minneapolis Institute of arts. One of the best general art museums in the country. It's free and you could go once a week for a whole year and always see something new.

The only place in the country that has a full set of Paul Revere silver tea service items. One of the founding fathers was also a silversmith, and it is here in Minneapolis that his works can be found. I prefer the exhibits at the MIA over the nearby Walker Art Center.

Whenever I go to the great museums of the world, I am impressed by their collections. Whenever I return home, I go to visit the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and I realize this is every bit as impressive a museum as any other museum in the world. The collection is superb and the atmosphere is lovely. Most recently, the marvelous... More

There is so much to see here- everything from ancient Chinese bronzes and ceramics to European paintings to contemporary photography. I could spend days here and plan to as it will be a great distraction during a long cold winter!
