This museum is brilliant and outstanding and definately worth your time. It is free but yo can make a contribution of 12 dollars per person if you wish. It is located in the city so I would recommend visiting on a weekend when ther is less traffic. I have visited a few museums and this one is near to the... More

If the cost of admission to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) wasn't already free I'd still recommend people visit; but as entry is free, it is a true no-brainer to take in when visiting the Twin Cities. The MIA provides you the option of making a donation when entering and based on how good the MIA was I'm happy... More

I always like to check out Art Museums when I am in a new town. Was able to walk to the museum from the Hyatt Regency. The Museum was free to go into (always a plus!). It was not a huge museum but it packed a punch. It was neat how they would set up rooms from different time periods,... More

We frequent the Minneapolis area often, usually for the shopping. This time, I wanted a different experience than sterile suburbia, so I dragged my family to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. First of all, it is free to get in. They request donations, but if you chose, you could walk right by the front desk without giving a cent. If... More

I really enjoyed the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. It has a very large and diverse collection of art. Something for everyone's taste in art. I was disappointed that the museum restaurant was closed during the time that I was there.

While the building's facade resembles others, its' collection is not. There are pieces of Asian (Korean, Japanese, Chinese), European, American, African (including Egyptian) Art. The guide map was easy to read and we thoroughly enjoyed the news flash pieces posted throughout which highlighted a recent event or article associated with the art next to it. As an added bonus, admission... More

This is a world class museum with pieces covering just about every major period you can imagine. I was particularly struck by the photograph collection as well as the Chinese exhibit. I've been to many of the world's major art museums and I'd put this one up against many of them. Very impressed!

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has an excellent and varied collection. I was particularly impressed with the photography and the 20th century paintings. Admission is free, although the suggested donation of $10 is quite reasonable.

I was in Minneapolis on business and decided to take in a day here. The collection is very good and I enjoyed the way everything is laid out. They seemed to be family freindly and I really enjoyed the art sculptures outside. I even got to lay in the grass for a while and watch thhe clouds go by. I... More

The collection is diverse and excellent with many donations made in the early 20th century. This is one of few art museums where I have found at least twenty works I could view over and over
