This is a wonderful art museum well-worth a visit. We have been here many times and are now members. The regular exhibits are free, representing a wide range of European and Asian art plus much more. But this museum is not overwhelming to the first-time visitor. And they have periodic special exhibitions like the one on the Habsburgs from the... More

Spent several hours here on a Sunday afternoon and we loved it. They had a Hapsburg collection on display during this period and it was fascinating. The collection was extensive and beautiful. The staff throughout the exhibit were thoughtful and informative. The rest of the institute has many beautiful pieces and one could spend days sorting through it all. Definitely... More

Minneapolis Institute of Arts is always an interesting and beautiful place to visit. MIA is able to exhibit wonderful collections throughout the year. Currently and for the next few months it's the Habsburgs, Rarely Seen Masterpieces from Europe's Greatest Dynasty. Each time there is something new we are anxious to see and learn from the exhibits. The Twin Cities are... More

The MIA in Minneapolis should be a "must see" destination for visitors and residents. Its collections, particularly in the arts of Asia (South, Southeast and Far East) is unparalleled. The museum is a wonderful space for adults and children, with a lovely cafe and gorgeous setting (even in winter). It is a hidden gem (as most visitors usually hear about... More

We make sure to visit MIA every year over the holidays so we can see the decorated period rooms. The rooms are decorated for the holidays like they would have been during their era. It's so nice to see! We also enjoy going for the special exhibitions. The permanent collections are extensive and wide ranging from classical paintings and sculptures to... More

We always go for the major exhibitions, but last Friday we just visited the MIA and spent the day roaming through all of the exhibits. The permanent collections are fascinating and interesting. Great way to spend a wintry day. I would certainly recommend the Hapsburgs, but be sure to explore the rest of the many exhibits in the permanent collection... More

This is a place everyone must put on their itinerary while living here in this great state, passing through or looking for a place to take guests. Traveling exhibits enable one to go back in time to centuries unimaginable. Lectures, audio ears and just strolling through the galleries is the way to spend a day, return the next and take... More

the special exhibits are often a bit pricey ($20 for the last one, Italian Fashion, which was just so-so) but the regular collections are nicely presented. The snack bar also has some tasty, and quite creative, stuff!

World class art through the ages! The permanent collections are stunning & important. My favorite is the Asian section: carvings, precious stones, incredible fabrics, furniture, more. You can't miss the massive Chihully "sun" chandelier that greets you at the entrance. This museum has it all, so don't miss it!
