This museum has a lot to see, can't really go through the whole thing in one day if you are looking at items in depth. The staff are usually helpful and very friendly. Entry is free though some special exhibits have a cost. They offer tours (free) during the day which are usually good; it depends on the docent/guide. There... More

We had a delicious dinner with a wine reception at the museum for the conference we were attending. Also received a short private tour. The museum has something for everybody. Wish we would have had time to see the entire museum.

The museum has a wide variety of art, from ancient to modern, including African, Asian, native American, etc. It is too large to been covered in one visit. The building is beautiful and well-lit. Most rooms ae numbered, but sometimes even with the guide, which has a map of the rooms it is difficult to know where you are.

Huge collections from all around the world. Personally, I loved the contemporary art, and Ancient Roman sections, but the rest are also worth visiting. I spent about 8 hours at MIA, but I couldn't finally see all the items

I visited during the Matisse special exhibition earlier this year so my focus was seeing and immersing myself in that. It was fabulous - the audio guide was one of the better ones I have used in an art gallery with just enough information, and more (by pressing a number) if you wanted it. The gallery was busy, but not... More

This museum ranks among the best in the United States. A beautiful setting and very well-done building. I'm amazed and thrilled that they manage to have this be free admission. We were happy to donate!! We could tour only a small part of the many galleries but were impressed by the depth of the European collections. The Minneapolis/St Paul artwork... More

I was dragged here by my wife. I was not interested in this place at all but I have to admit that I enjoyed my visit. 1. Its a huge place so be prepared to walk a lot. 2. Entry is Free. Donation is suggested. 3. There are some exhibits (actually just one) where there is a minor entry fee.... More

Many people have said Washington DC has the best art galleries and museums in America. That said, MIA comes very close to the ones in DC! First off, the location is fantastic! A beautiful park is located in front of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The general location is in between uptown and downtown, which makes it a fantastic place... More

Some some of the best thing in life are free free admission. Free parking (go early) Weekdays are the best times to go. Wide variety for art to keep it interesting.
