Easy to get to from downtown on the bus, beautifully designed art museum, with way more going on than I would have expected in a medium city art museum. Free entrance, nice coffee shop, area to relax on ground floor. I highly recommend.

Never get tired of touring the incredible full time exhibits that take us way back in our history... while the travelling exhibits are always rich and rewarding.. from Fine Art and Glass sculpture to OP ART POSTERS of the 60's. This place just rocks.

My kids, grandson and I went to see the Habsburg's Special Exhibit (which was amazing) and toured some of the rest of the museum after we were finished. It is quiet, well lit, and the art pieces are succinctly described. It is, actually, a huge building and we were not able to see it all. But we will be going... More

We read about the Art of the Habsburg Dynasty coming to Minneapolis and we were interested in seeing the exhibit. We are so glad we were able to get there. It was presented in an interesting, no, impressive manor. It was so well done that we had to stop for coffee and reflect on it before we even left the... More

Great place to see some fantastic art- especially love the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit. It's also lovely to take the family to on Saturday because it is free, and then you can catch a Children's Theater Production, as they are housed in the same building.

Wonderful, but very large museum. Allow a full day or plan to pick and choose from the exhibits. We also really enjoyed the restaurant on the second floor.

We often go to the MIA for special exhibits and only rush through the Asian art. This time we focused on it, did not get to savor all of it, but were entranced. The pottery and the statuary are marvelous. The photo exhibit celebrating the MIA's 100th anniversary is not to be missed.

The MIA contains a large collection of paintings, sculpture, historical and cultural artifacts and ceramics. It houses many important works. Also several wonderful reconstructed "period rooms" including a Japanese Tea Ceremony exhibit. Additionally, excellent Japanese ceramics collected by Joan Mondale while she and Walter were living there as US Ambassador. Contemporary ceramics featuring works by Internationally known Minnesota potters, especially... More

I've been here a couple of times, but this is my first review. I've seen so much it's hard to summarize the art so I'll just review the experience. For a museum it does not have a stuffy quality at all. Exhibits are approachable and encourage learning, which is what the large specific museums should focus more on. It's a... More
