Wow, what a nice surprise! We visit as many museums as we can but it's rarely a high priority. We hadn't researched this museum so our expectations weren't very high. Frankly, we visited on our way out of town to stretch our legs for a few hours before the drive home and we are so happy we did. The Hapsburg... More

My wife and I had been members of MIA for more than 2 decades (and, full disclosure, 25 years ago I worked there for 3 years.) Sadly, we will not be renewing our membership this year, as the Institute has hiked the cost of basic membership from $70 to $150 - a more than 100% increase! Bad move MIA, and... More

We love this museum. Love the family room near the coffee shop where we can let the little ones crawl and explore.

this was great. Well worth going with a docent, she was very helpful and informative. The exhibit was v good, but came alve with help of our docent. Place was plenty busy at 1 pm on Friday. We had lunch at the walk thru cafe, where food was good, nice selection of healthy choices.

I was amazed by the breadth and depth of the institute's collection. Important works by well-known artists, but also lesser-known works by the same names . . . a real treat to see the scope of Mondrian's work and several different styles of Monet's work. Their photography collection is impressive, and the contemporary pieces are edgy, yet undeniably important works... More

The MIA surely must be seen. We came with friends to see the Habsburg exhibit and stayed for so much more. Admission prices are reasonable and the exhibits well displayed. Don't miss this.

This is a good restaurant for inside a museum and their menu is innovative without being fussy. Its a delightful little place.

World class art, and lots of it. Has fabulous collections of Egyptian Art, Japanese Art, American Indian, French, Dutch, Italian, Renaissance, you name it. It has a some modern art also, but mostly classical art. For modern art go the the Walker Art Museum. Usually they host a fabulous travelling exhibit, and those are always outstanding. You can spend one... More

Usually an overwhelming experience - so much to see, to experience. Never been disappointed at their different specific shows. Food is pretty decent as well. Plan to have trouble parking.
