We are finishing up our long weekend camping trip and will leave tomorrow. We are at #47 campsite (electric). It is well placed. This is a quiet campground with lots of wildlife to see. The campsites are very close together which looked uncomfortable when we first arrived, but for some reason you don't hear everyone's conversations and it seems quiet.... More

We enjoyed hiking among the rock formations, especially the bluffs, and wished we'd had time to ride our bicycles around the park. The paths were well-marked and easy to navigate. The Interpretive Center/Manfred home was fascinating, and we were able to climb the spiral staircase to enjoy the view that inspired the local author.

We only spent a few minutes at one area of the park - but it is very nice. Lots of wildlife and gorgeous scenery from a hilltop view.

Wonderful walking paths to see buffalo, great rock formations, some native cacti, and lots of good birding. An overlooked destination.

Worth the quick drive north of Luverne for a great view. Easy access to the bluffs, great place if you want to do some rock climbing.

Great hiking in a virgin tall grass praire (one of the largest remnants left). A herd of Bison (herd with purest Bison DNA). Really nice campground (if you're looking for complete hookups-- don't bother-- just electric, no water or sewer hookups).

There is a nice walking trail and informational center in the park along with camping. Fun to see the wild deer and buffalo wandering around.

Blue Mounds was great, we reserved online and stayed one night at one of the cart-in campsites, which was nice and secluded. The prairie views mixed with the river and rock formations were awesome.

My wife and I have visited approximately 30 of MN's state parks. Blue Mounds State Park is certainly one of our favorites. We took a 4 or 5 mile hike out the Mounds Trail which cuts straight across the prairie. We did see two herds of buffalo, but at a great distance. The buffalo are fenced off from the public... More

We came to see the buffalo herd and were not disappointed. In fact, we were lucky to have seen the herd since you can never know exactly where they may be. The trails are easy to follow, and the staff is very helpful. The wildflowers were stunning; it is a beautiful place that is very calming.
