Good ski area, bad chalet area

We were nervous about Vail taking over, but they have made some major improvements in snowmaking and updating the Chalets. The customer service here is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. Pauls pub is a favorite of ours but we also like that we can set up a grill slopeside and save a few bucks too. It's been... More

We had a super day at Afton Alps. Ski Instructors were nice and very helpful. The weather was perfect; there was fresh snow on the ground. Everything about the day was fun and enjoyable.

Went skiing on New years eve. The layout of the chalet is very odd. Everything is separate and there is no where to get ready if you have your own gear, except in your car. The runs where good, nice an groomed. Very icy in some spots and the lines to the lifts got very icy an hard to ski... More

1st off... Vail owns it. Literally in the suburbs of St Paul. The runs are short but well groomed. Folks running it are genuinely insistent on you having fun at their park and they will ask you every chance they get if you are getting jollies there. The lines at some of the popular lifts can get a bit crowded... More

We visited for a family trip- kids ages 14 to 3. We have skied at large resorts in the mountains and although Afton is much smaller, it was a great place to just kick back and have a low stress fun family ski day! They even have lift buddies so my younger kids could go up by themselves! My daughter... More

Afton Alps is a great place to ski but the customer service is below average. From the beginning--getting our ski tickets took forever and and the two people that helped us were incredibly rude even though the problem was on their end. They never apologized or smiled. The cafeteria workers and the waitstaff in the restaurant/bar were also rude and... More

Afton Alps is a great place to ski in MN. I love that they are now partnered with Colorado ski resorts. It makes getting a season pass a no brainer if you are heading out West. It has ski hills for all levels. The staff is helpful. There is food you can buy there or you can bring in your... More

Okay, driving along I-94 from Minneapolis to Wisconsin is really flat mid-western terrain. You pass these signs mentioning skiing at the Afton Alps and you go, "who's fooling who here", but had some time and decided to drive over. AA is about 10-12 miles off the freeway. As we drove over I'm looking for a mountain, a hill, a knoll... More

This is a very picturesque location. It's fun to sit in one of the chalets and watch the kids if you're not a skier. If you are a skier there are many slopes to choose from, either super easy to black diamond, and anything in between. You won't be disappointed.
