Nice Stop

The old school has an assortment of shops that carry unique items, worth a stop! There's a lot of free parking available.

Very nice old school house. Well worth visiting. Many of the shop weren't open the day we were there, but the building is beautiful.

Never been to the city before, so spent some time to walk around. We saw this old school and went inside. Very nice structure, but probably a better place for women to visit. Lots of quilting, sewing, and craft items. I was thrilled when my wife said she was done after just passing all the stores. Even when we were... More

The sign outside listed all of the businesses inside; however, only two businesses were open (a hair salon and a quilt shop). The other shop is only open on Fridays and Saturdays. I'd think that they'd be open every day during the summer, high traffic months. While the building is beautifully restored, we were very disappointed to discover that there... More

If you are in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and happen to be shopping about for T-shirts, ball caps and mocs, stop in to the Central School. They have a few museums up stairs and some quaint shops throughout. Public bathrooms are downstairs.Of course, Central School has a history of it's own and that's a decent reason to stop in. It is... This is a wonderful restoration of a beautiful old downtown school. There are many shops and some businesses here. It's a great place to browse.

The big old school was fun to go into but I understand at this time of year there are not many vendors there. This was disappointing. I did enjoy looking at the quilt shop and the different styles.

The Old Central School is a gem and it is so wonderful it was saved from meeting the same fate that so many old buildings have had. They have a beautiful staircase and the building has a lot of character. It is no longer a school but is the home to several wonderful shops. One of which is a great... More

I've visited the Old Central School several times. I always enjoy walking around and imagining how things looked when the building was full of school children and teachers. The shops are fun to explore. The quilt shop is one of my favorites. You can buy something to eat and drink at the café. During the summer, there was an artist-in-residence... More

We enjoyed the Yellow Brick Road, the Wizard of Oz Mural, and the Central School. We met the folks at Baby Steps and enjoyed our visit. They are doing great work!
