I saw from the outside there were shops inside, so we went in. After all it is on the National Historic Register. A quilt store and some other small stores, but nothing to hold my interest for more than 5 minutes. The inside still had some historic charm but the outside was the masterpiece if you are into historic architecture.... More

Wonderful old architecture but most of the shops were gone. Looked like it might have been bustling at one time but we weren't even sure it was open.

Large old stone school in the center of Grand Rapids. I attended Kindergarden through 6th grade there, then the school was closed, and became a place for unique businesses. It has unique construction, with a central grand staircase! We used to stand on the steps for choir and special programs, after parents were seated on the main and top floors.... More

The quilt shop located in the old school was a nice e little shop. Enjoyed seeing it. The man in the shop was knowledgeable and seemed to know about the fabric in his store.

Very nice old school house. Well worth visiting. Many of the shop weren't open the day we were there, but the building is beautiful.

Never been to the city before, so spent some time to walk around. We saw this old school and went inside. Very nice structure, but probably a better place for women to visit. Lots of quilting, sewing, and craft items. I was thrilled when my wife said she was done after just passing all the stores. Even when we were... More

The sign outside listed all of the businesses inside; however, only two businesses were open (a hair salon and a quilt shop). The other shop is only open on Fridays and Saturdays. I'd think that they'd be open every day during the summer, high traffic months. While the building is beautifully restored, we were very disappointed to discover that there... More

The old school has an assortment of shops that carry unique items, worth a stop! There's a lot of free parking available.

If you are in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and happen to be shopping about for T-shirts, ball caps and mocs, stop in to the Central School. They have a few museums up stairs and some quaint shops throughout. Public bathrooms are downstairs.Of course, Central School has a history of it's own and that's a decent reason to stop in. It is... This is a wonderful restoration of a beautiful old downtown school. There are many shops and some businesses here. It's a great place to browse.
