Lots of fun shops, well preserved

This is a wonderful restoration of a beautiful old downtown school. There are many shops and some businesses here. It's a great place to browse.

If you are in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and happen to be shopping about for T-shirts, ball caps and mocs, stop in to the Central School. They have a few museums up stairs and some quaint shops throughout. Public bathrooms are downstairs.Of course, Central School has a history of it's own and that's a decent reason to stop in. It is... The big old school was fun to go into but I understand at this time of year there are not many vendors there. This was disappointing. I did enjoy looking at the quilt shop and the different styles.

The Old Central School is a gem and it is so wonderful it was saved from meeting the same fate that so many old buildings have had. They have a beautiful staircase and the building has a lot of character. It is no longer a school but is the home to several wonderful shops. One of which is a great... More

I've visited the Old Central School several times. I always enjoy walking around and imagining how things looked when the building was full of school children and teachers. The shops are fun to explore. The quilt shop is one of my favorites. You can buy something to eat and drink at the café. During the summer, there was an artist-in-residence... More

We enjoyed the Yellow Brick Road, the Wizard of Oz Mural, and the Central School. We met the folks at Baby Steps and enjoyed our visit. They are doing great work!

Beautiful old building with some shops but not enough to keep anyone there for more than an hour. Summer weekends are packed in Grand Rapids and the place was closed on Sundays.

What a treasure Grand Rapids has in this old scool! The fact that they have preserved it is a credit yo them! I just wish there was more shopping inside!

This is a really beautiful building and with so much history! Beautifully preserved. There is not much inside of interest but there is a coffee shop, some crafting corners and more. Worth a visit!

Went back there last year. What memories!!!!! I attended 5th grade there many, many years ago. Got to see my old classroom, even if it was full of junk. Stood on the balcony where we used to square dance, always worried about the creaking floor. Thank God they preserved it. There are a number of historical artifacts there that are... More
