The North American Bear Center is the only educational facility of its kind - it helps people learn from the bears themselves about bear behavior, ecology, and their relations with humans. There is a huge need for accurate information about bears worldwide and the mission of the non-profit North American Bear Center is to advance the long-term survival of bears worldwide by replacing misconceptions with scientific facts about bears

This center is a must see if in the Ely area. The center has 4 bears that are the highlight which may appear like a very small attraction at first. However, the care that this non-profit center gives the Bears and the whole experience is valued beyond the $10.50 (minus $1 coupon) charged. The staff offer various "shows" during the... More

Maybe I'm jaded because I've been to several places, and zoos, and have watched bears in different settings (THE best is Bear Country in the Black Hills). But I do love bears, and was excited to stop by here. Me, dad, teen, and 3 y/o cost about $40 to get in. There was gong to be snack time 2 hours... More

Wonderful place for seniors, scouts, children, and everyone else in the world. Put this on your bucket list. Catch the feedings at 11:00, 1:00 and 4:00 for best bear viewing.

My father would tell me that bears are more afraid of me than I am of them. The myth buster information at the center certainly confirmed that. The International Wolf Center and Dorothy Molter Museum were also worth exploring. I would also recommend visiting the Soudan Mine--both the underground tour and the physics lab.

The North American Bear Center is a great place to learn about bears and see the resident bears (Holly, Honey, Lucky and Ted). There is an outdoor viewing area to watch the bears swim in the ponds, get treats from the resident interns. Each morning and twice in the afternoon they have an enrichment session to learn about bears. New... More

Wonderful resource in Ely, MN! My kids, grandkids and I all enjoyed our visit to the NA Bear Center. The staff was welcoming, helpful and very knowledgeable. Their love of bears and their jobs was evident. We all enjoyed our visit (ages 3-53). There is a hands on room for the little ones and a lot of info for the... More

I Absolutely love the North American Bear Center. I cant wait to see the new Northwoods Ecology Hall / Hope Learning Center expansion. I've learned more about bears from the NABC then I have living here in bear country of PA. The Staff is amazing, the Gift shop is amazing, and all the bear people I've come to know through... More

We arrived in the afternoon, so we missed the bear lunch, but we were just in time for snack time! We watched two bears from the observation deck. We thought that was pretty cool, but then an hour after snack time began there was a behind-the-scenes tour! We were able to go right down to within a couple feet of... More

We enjoyed this stop much more than the wolf center. In is larger, with more exhibits, art work, informational videos and a presentation by staff. The highlight was watching the bear getting fed-there is an outdoor balcony to watch from or from the large windows inside. Overall, a great afternoon.
