The North American Bear Center is the only educational facility of its kind - it helps people learn from the bears themselves about bear behavior, ecology, and their relations with humans. There is a huge need for accurate information about bears worldwide and the mission of the non-profit North American Bear Center is to advance the long-term survival of bears worldwide by replacing misconceptions with scientific facts about bears

Amazing to see bears up that close

Spend time in the informational theaters - better for older kids if you want to get everything you can from this fascinating museum.

Great location outside of Ely, be careful you might miss the turn if you're too busy looking at all the great scenery! The center provides some great background and lessons on bears, and it was great being able to see them up close in the enclosure they have built for a few of them. The space inside is under construction... More

This is what the wolf center should have been. We were taken on a tour and got to see bears be fed. We were given a Q and A session afterward. Interactive tour made this fun

I've been here twice and they keep making it better. Kids (of all ages) will love this place! There were new exhibits/areas under construction so I will be back.

I've never seen a bear, outside of a Hollywood production. So my friend decided to take me to the North American Bear Center, in Ely Minnesota. We got there and it was raining so we skipped the nature trail walk, and went straight into the center. There were a number of exhibits and displays sharing stories about bears, their eating... The staff and volunteers were very friendly and knowledgable. I think if you had any bear questions at all, someone could answer it. Be sure to visit during Bear feeding time, which was 4pm when we were there.

This is a great place. We went during a rainy day when it was being remodeled. but we visited the bears and learned a lot. Definitely recommend it.

The bear center is very nice!! The outside balcony is great to view the Bears and there are many exhibits set up explaining bear eating habits, hibernation habits, mating habits and even an exhibit on campers and bears. Each exhibit has pictures and videos to accompany it. There's also a photo gallery and a children's corner. It was so well... More
