I have been in the Piragis store many times. Their assortment of quality gear is impressive and I found some of their prices < REI. This past week I utilized their outfitting staff for a winter camping trip (tent, stove, pulks, etc.). I spoke with them on the phone multiple times. They were always friendly, asked thoughtful questions about our... More

Although I have heard the owner of Piragis speak at different outdoor expo type venues and feel he is very knowledgeable and competent, I have not used this outfitter for outfitting a BWCAW trip. I own my own equipment and outfit myself. However, when in Ely I love to go to this store to see their gift, shoe, and clothing... More

My eleven friends and I came from Norway, Denmark and The Feroe Islands for an eight day canoing experience in Boundry Waters. Piragis kept in contact with us for months before our arrival, making sure all our needs were met. Once there, they actually sent a shuttlebus to pick all of us up from Minneapolis airport and take us to... More

An extensive product inventory of camping and canoe products. Lots of higher end clothing options for both men and women. A small area for knick-knack gifts and a quaint kids section. Prices were reasonable.

We used Piragis as the outfitter for our September trip to BWCA. The gear was first rate; tents, paddles, canoes, and packs were all top notch and in great condition. Drew did a great job helping organize accommodations and routing for our trip. The drop off and pickup service for our entry/exit point was right on time. Pricing was good... More

I happened into this store by chance and ended up buying several nice gadgets for my canoe trip. I could have bought even more if I had more money. They have everything you could ever need and more. They have stuff I didn't even know existed and all of it is quality stuff at a good price.

A friend used Piragis 15 years ago to outfit his trip to the Boundary Waters and recommended them. Our group brought most of our own gear and food and rented Kevlar canoes and a few misc items from Piragis. They were great to work with and fast with responses via email. They made sure our trip plans were thought out,... More

Have been to ely twice in the last 12 yrs, went to piragis both times. This is a very well maintained establishment, family owned. They have everything you could possibly need for a day hike to weeks out in the woods. Very clean, it's a very well put together place, well lit, organized, quality products, pay for what you get... We stopped at Boundary Waters for a guided canoe trip on a trip across the North Central US.. Glad we did. Our guide Aaron was knowledgeable of the area and a great canoe guide with a passion for the location. It was a very relaxing paddle.. Was worried about insects but not a problem. Wish we would have stayed longer.... More

Just completed our third (or fourth) Boundary Waters trip with Piragis as our outfitter. As always, we had highly responsive service and first rate gear. Gear always appears to be new (or nearly so) and a lot of thought clearly goes into selecting the brands and models they carry. Before using Piragis, my group did three or four previous BW... More
