We love to drive the north shore and stop at all the historic markers and overlooks.. lots to see. Climb the hills and trails. Baptism River we love, lots of stones for skipping too. Betty's pies is good. Camping is fun or Grand Superior Lodge is nice. Always something to see.

One of the most beautiful drives and parts of the world. If you need to refresh and restore yourself from the busyness of life and trip up the North Shore offers you all that nature can give

Old 61 is best for lake shore views. Some construction with restrictions to one lane and moderate delays. Easy route for Two Harbors, Gooseberry Falls State Park, and Split Rock Lighthouse. Don't miss Betty's Pies, but try to avoid the lunch rush. We bought our slices to go and enjoyed dessert later. Worth the stop! Took the Split Rock L.H.... More

Been going to the nooks and crannies of the North Shore for about 50 years. The scenery never disappoints and there are plenty of good dining spots, galleries and craft shops, and no shortage of places to hike and take photos.

If you like nature as you drive; to just sit and look; short walks or serious hiking this is hard to beat. The frosting on the cake is clean air for two people with allergies.

Really enjoyed this drive from Duluth to Thunder Bay. Many, many state parks and turnouts for great pictures. The scenery is terrific and beautiful, although some spots were foggy. (Those made interesting pictures, too!) Highly recommend it and can wait to visit again.

This is truly a gem in my "backyard". Being from the Twin Cities my whole lifetime I've been up the Shore several times. As I've aged I've delved deeper into it's offerings. It never grows old. This is just a natural beauty of a landscape and it's intertwined with cool old cabins and new resorts alike as well as great... More

This is a pretty drive with Lake Superior in view quite a bit of the way, although sometimes just through the trees. We stayed overnight in Two Harbors. We then went about 12 miles north to Gooseberry Falls before turning around so can’t comment on the drive past that. We stopped at a few gift shops along the way, Russ... More

Very nice views of the lake. Lots of places to stop to enjoy the view and great photo ops. Kids can climb on some rocks too.

Took the scenic drive on way to Gooseberry state park, it was worth it. Keep in mind, 50% of drive was obstructed by trees.. 50% you could see superior lake.. Definitely not as pretty as one of the San Diego ocean drives.. Lots of restaurants, lodging areas & view points along the way...
