North Shore Scenic Drive

You can take this road all the way up to the Canadian border. Great views the entire way. There are many places for you to stop and get out to dip your feet in the lake.

The North Shore Scenic Drive is beautiful all year long. We drove along it in August, and stopped every so often to search for agates (which are harder to come by than you think), and to watch the boats and wildlife along the shore. I take a lot of photos, and can easily fill up my memory card when in... More

Neither my wife or I had been to the North Shore but had heard a lot about it. We headed up from the Twin Cities and went up to Grand Marais, a delightful pretty town with cute shops and a variety of restuarants. Stayed in Tofte that night and then did Lutsen, the lighthouse and falls on our way back... More

Gorgeous... go in fall when the leaves are changing. You won't regret it, lake on one side classic Northwoods Minnesota on the other. Plenty of small stores and cities to stop at in between. -Mike

Whenever we have guests from out of town, this is one of our "go-to places!" Fall is our favorite season to make this drive, but any time is great! There are so many places to stop and take photos and lots of fun places to visit. There is some great eating along the way! Don't miss Splitrock Lighthouse!

Once you get over being so close to this GIANT body of water while you're driving, it's really beautiful, and lots of overlooks and parking areas with different views at every one. Lots of local flavor places to shop and eat all along.

This drive is very scenic - waterfalls, lighthouses, mansions, museums. It required a day and a half to see everything. Highly recommended.

We are from Missouri so we are used to scenic and the lake view. This was a whole new level. This is a sea. The houses along the shoreline were very nice and the traditional points of interest were well worth the trip. We did Two Harbors, Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. All were beautiful. The falls were VERY... More

I love the North Shore drive! Our family has taken this trip many time and I could do it many more times. Cute little shops to stop at along the way and beautiful sites along the way.
