Only a little road construction and no delays. Trees weren't fully green, but all the better to see Lake Superior through the more wooded areas.

This is a really wonderful stretch of road that shouldn't be missed. The Saturday we drove from Duluth to Split Rock Lighthouse was a snowy one, but we never encountered a bit of snow or ice on the road. It's very well maintained and even the bit of road construction we had to drive through was well marked and easy...

Road construction didn't allow us to go to the picnic area just north of Duluth. Lake was great. We found our way by way of my poor memory of he area to have smoked fish. Weather was awesome. Many deer everywhere; hard to believe. We had a nice day minus the picnic I had planned.
What's not to like about this drive? Awesome lake views of ships coming and going on a beautiful blue sparkling lake. Nice little shops and restaurants along the way too! Lots of places to stop and gaze!
It's hard to keep your eyes on the road, as you pass so many interesting things to see. There are numerous places to stop (restaurants, state parks, museums, etc.) that appeal to all ages. We went during off-season (late winter), but still found numerous things to see and do.
Nice scenic drive, stop in Two Harbors and see the light house and up the road to Gooseberry Falls, There's plenty of little mom & pop places to eat
Many stop in Duluth and never make it North along the Coast of Lake Superior. This is a must drive year round. Majestic can't cover it.
I have been to the North Shore so many times yet I never get tired of it! Lake Superior is always so majestic no matter what time of year you visit. There is so much to do and see along the drive that you could never see/do it all in one trip. Every season offers a unique experience as well....

We have traveled here too many times to count, but this was the first time we went as far as Cascade State Park. It was beautiful to see the water flowing under the ice. There was snow, but the plow trucks did an excellent job of keeping the roads clear and safe.
