Take the time to do this...so relaxing and great to stop at all of the State Parks on the path. My husband and I love this drive and stop some place new every time we take it!

Even though it rained, we still enjoyed a Two Harbor Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls. Lunch at Betty's pie shop was busy, but good.

The nice thing about the North Shore is the variety of different trees and colors. In the Twin Cities, we don't seem to get quite as many deep and bright reds, but along this drive, we saw every imaginable color combination at it's peak. It was a perfect way to take in the fall colors, with the added beauty of... More

This drive is world class any time of the year, but the beauty of the North Shore is spectacular in the fall. Start or end in Thunder Bay for visuals that are a feast for the senses. With many places to stop, you will not be disappointed in the beauty that awaits. Take a few. Minutes to stroll the stone... More

We drove along the highway and stopped at Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse - excellent parks, good access, helpful park staff considering that this is the great outdoors, there are enough places to eat to make it convenient..

Just as the expressway starts to Two Harbor, watch for the signs to the scenic drive road that mostly hugs the shore until Two Harbors then follows Hwy 61 up the shore to Grand Portage. This is perhaps one of the most scenic drives in the US. Lots of unique landscapes including the Palisade Head, a number of waterfalls, great... More

Fun stops: Smoked fish in Knife River, The Knife River Candy Shop, Betty's Pies, and you have to see Gooseberry Falls. Great Fall Drive!

Love to go up the North Shore Scenic Drive when we are in the area. Stop at a few of the pull outs and look around. Take some time to reflect on all of the water that make up Lake Superior. You might even see some ships coming in or going out of Duluth.

The approximate 150 mile drive from Duluth to the Canadian border is a relaxing (if there's no road construction) and scenic trip. Great stops along the way to break the "monotony" of watching beautiful Lake Superior change from smooth to rough and vice versa. Be sure to see Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, Tettegouche state park (hiking), Lutsen (skiing or... More
