After touring the lovely museums and art display, my friends and I relaxed on a leisurely dinner tour. It doesn't take long from the Depot to enjoy the scenic vista of Lake Superior. The sunset was quite romantic! Excellent dinner and wine served by some really fun and interesting wait staff. They were timely, efficient, and lent the aura of... More

Last season (2013) I went to the North Shore Scenic Railroad a few times, and every visit was awesome! It was easy to book tickets online, and boarding was just as easy! We went on the "Murder Mystery" train and it was FANTASTIC! The food was great and the actors were hilarious, DEFINITELY doing it again this year if they... More

Had a great time both at the museums (at both ends) and during the ride. The destination town of Two Harbors has neat shops and interesting eating places. Enjoyed watching an ore boat loading in the harbor.

I booked tickets for a fall color tour leaving Duluth @ 10:30 am and returning @ 4:30 pm. Since this was close to a three hour drive away we left early in the morning and got there early. Our tickets were ready and waiting at the will call office. The rest of the museum was open to go through, but... More

My wife and I bought our tickets ahead of time for the train ride to Two Harbors from Duluth, Mn. and were charge $49 apiece for the tickets for a total of $98 for the six hour trip. We got our tickets paid for on July 29th and our reservation was for Friday, Sept. 6. Well, after all, we wanted... More

"Horrible waste of day" gave the details, and they are accurate. The volunteers who run the train or narrate didn't seem to be getting support from the company about what to do in this situation. It occurred to me today that if this problem couldn't be handled, what would they do in the event of an emergency...an accident? A medical... More

This was the $33/person train that was to begin at 10:30 AM, and travel to Two Harbors, was supposed to let us off for a couple hours to eat and shop at Two Harbors, and return to the depot at Duluth. The train departed late. No big deal. The trip to Two Harbors was okay, but we could have seen... More

Spent most of the trip sitting in the yard at Twin Harbors waiting for the tracks to clear. Nice ride through the woods, but very slow and wasted quite a bit of time just sitting. Not the co fault but no leaves changing although advertised as fall foliage tour. A rather boring trip. Wish we had used our one free... More

I would recommend this trip if you are up for a long day. This train can be delayed by ore trains and cost us nearly two hours total. Also some cars are much stuffier than others and others have windows for fresh air...depends on if you like warm or cooler...so nice to have a choice I guess. Nice views...nice two... More

The Lester River Excursion train ride basically runs from downtown Duluth to the edge of the Northern Suburbs and then goes back again. You definitely want to sit on the lake side as there is little to see on the other side. The trains themselves are beautifully restored -- you get a sense for what it was like traveling in... More
