History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The ride was ok. I was expecting to see some nice scenery and fall colors. The ride never left town, so we basically just got to see gas stations and houses. The "pumpkin patch" was just an empty lot in a residential neighborhood with a pile of pumpkins. The museum was much better than the actual ride. Lots going on... More

I wish we would have planned to spend more time at the train museum before hopping on board for our scheduled ride. There was so much to see in the museum we could have easily spent half a day there. We took the special pumpkin patch train ride during MEA break. Luckily we had a double stroller (not allowed on... More

It was the first time our family had ever been on a train ride and it was fabulous! It wasn't too long of a ride for the kids and afterwards we got to go look at all the train history in the Museum which was great! It was a great outing for our family and already want to go back... More

Our kids love trains! The pumpkin patch train was a lot of fun for our family. We got some advice to bring a bag to carry our pumpkins and that worked great. The kids had a blast on the train, choosing their pumpkins from the patch (they were all nice quality) and then back at the station they had free... More

The train ride was as expected. Nice views of the lake along the way. Its nice to have full access to the museum as well. Lots to do there. Pumpkin patch was less than expected.... Expected an actual patch not some random space with pumpkins sitting on hay bales. But our son was more excited in the trains than the... More

My kids loved the Pumpkin Patch train ride. They loved looking out the windows and seeing the lakeshore and the scenery. The double-decker layout of the train was also very fun for them, as was the magician who came through the train cars. My biggest reason for not giving this 5 stars is that the bathrooms were so dirty and... More

Yes train ride wasnt much, but the whole experience was fun and original. We boarded the train while musicians played music and headed toward the pumpkin spot. Plenty of pumpkins to choose from. Headed back to the Depot and enjoyed free family fun. Bounce houses, face painting etc. And free admission to the museum all included in the ticket price

Mostly views of peoples back yards, train car was very hot. Not worth the $48 for 3 people.Save your money and take a car ride along the North Shore.

The trip could be more fun with some music on the train or maybe some handouts on the history of the area or the train. The shuttle drivers were very friendly and talkative.

We were completely unprepared for the North Shore Scenic Railroad experience. The price was reasonable, but we did not see anything of interest! We did see neighborhoods in that area, and limited views of Lake Superior with more vegetation than vista scenery! The train was extremely loud, and the air conditioning did not cool the train cars. It has two... More
