we took the whole family including grandkids to ride on the pizza train. the restrooms left ALOT to be desired inside of the depot and the train cars. One lady was afraid to use because she thought it would overflow. The young girls of the crew were very accommodating and were a pleasure to talk to. The ride lasted longer... More

We did the extravagant dinner ride, which was fun but it was pretty expensive. I will cherish the memory but probably do the pizza ride next time

I took my 3 year old to see Thomas one of his favorite characters. After paying $19 per seat for 3 of us plus service fee the ride was horrible. We went to board the train and were turned away from one car, boarded another only to be told we needed to go back to the first car because the... More

Hello Dan, Thank you for your review of the Day Out With Thomas event. We are very sorry you did not have a good time. As a non-profit, volunteer operated organization, we strive to make every person have an enjoyable and memorable experience, but I'm afraid we missed in this case. The Day Out With Thomas is always a very... More

The all volunteer crew shares their enthusiasm for trains and the railroad with the passengers and is very refreshing to see. Unlike some other posters, I had no trouble hearing the narration. I do agree that the view isn't as scenic as expected, you see more of forest / trees than of Lake Superior. We did the train ride to... More

This was by far the worst of the package. The train smelled. Even though our car had air conditioning it was uncomfortable. We were told when we made our reservation that we needed to arrive by 9:30 and no later. To which we arrived at 9am. My son enjoyed playing with toys that they had out. The train was due... More

My mother, my 3-year-old son, my 7-month-old daughter, and I went on the 90-minute ride along Lake Superior, and we all had a great time. There were some scenic views, but we also got a feel for the city of Duluth. Josh, the narrator, gave a very entertaining history of the area, and we enjoyed his sense of humor. We... More

We took the 3:00 PM, 90 minute round trip excursion from the Museum (Depot) up to the Lester River Park. You may need to by your tickets in advance for these two rides: They offer a "who done it" murder mystery ride; and a very scenic round trip up to Two Harbors, MN. Once under way, you can walk through... More

We took our granddaughter on the North Shore Scenic Railroad and all 3 of us had a great time. This is an easy way to introduce younger generations to the wonder of rail travel. We took the "Lester River Excursion" and the view of Lake Superior along the route was a special bonus!

The trip from Duluth to Two Harbors is two hours. The overall day is 6 with a 2 hour stay in Two Harbors to get lunch and look through shops. This ride is perfect for the train buff, the sightseer or a leisurely day trip. The trains are air conditioned. Enjoy travel as it was in the early 1900's. Though... More

90 minute Lester River ride doesn't show much. Ran late, no narration, long time to switch engine, limited views. See the great museum, but no reason to ride the train.
