If you are in Duluth you HAVE to go to the Aerial Lift Bridge! Hint: go to duluthboats.com and check out the shipping schedule, then head on down to Canal Park and walk out onto the pier. When the ships go by, under the bridge, it seems like you can reach out and touch them!

The bridge is a must to drive over and also to walk under when cars go over. We were lucky to catch 3 ships coming in or out and the bridge in fill action.

This is always worth a visit. The ships are so much bigger than you think! The parking is difficult, but you'll find a space if you are patient.

Loved watching the ore ships come through! The park around the Aerial Lift Bridge is really nice - and we enjoyed driving over it into the neighborhood on the other side.

Really fun if you're an early riser to get up by 6 and watch the first boats and ships of the morning set out into Lake Superior. Beautiful sunrises and very clean. Nice breeze along the boardwalk.

When those massive boats come through the canal, the kids become pretty silent. And that says something.

Never saw a lift bridge. Got to watch it go up and a ship go under it. Bridge is not very big but something to see. Enjoyed watching it.

It is always fun to sit along the Canal and watch the ships come it as the bridge raises and lowers. Even with a lot of people, there are lots of places to sit and watch, or lean against the retaining wall.

My husband's family when he was growing up would stop here every year passing through. He took our family there and the kids loved it! I enjoyed the big ships. And that's what everyone goes back time and time again to see. Really big ships! The bridge is cool too! Fun photo ops!

The Aerial Lift Bridge has always been Duluth's most notable man made landmark and is very cool to see in action. My wife and I visited the Canal Park area on an initially foggy Sunday morning and got to see the bridge raise and lower several times during our visit. It's definitely better to experience as a pedestrian than as... More
