The museum is set up in the former Duluth depot and is decorated to resemble an early 20th century town. Lots of old locomotives and other train equipment to explore and photograph. The North Shore railroad offers a variety of train rides on their line along Lake Superior. We recommend the 6 hour ride to Two Harbors, MN

If you're a train and railroad history enthusiast this is a great visit for a mere $7.00. You can also buy a package to include a 1 1/2 hour ride up the scenic North Shore in Duluth. Some awesome restorations and exhibits!

There used to be three railroad stations in Duluth. This one has been restored and repurposed to house several community organizations. Downstairs, where the trains used to arrive and depart, is now a climate-controlled exhibit area of restored engines and train cars. I've been to several railroad museums, and this is one of the best. The signage is good, most... More

I've been to quite a few rail museums and this is the best, by far. Located in the old Duluth rail station. If you're a train buff you need to block out a full day to explore all the cool stuff. If you're on a family outing there's plenty of stuff to interest the kids, they even have a baggage... More

We went on the train ride and did not go into the museum. what we could see it looked like it was a very well set up museum. The train ride was very informative and enjoyable.

Went here with friends who were more interested in trains than I was, and it was a great surprise. There was a lot to see, from the train cars themselves; to a collection of porcelain & silverware from dining cars, historical objects from town life away from the trains, to information on how the trains supported and impacted the country.... They have some really unique locomotives and train cars. However, it is really confusing to see the recommended items - many are not marked. I have been to other train museums that had much better signs and explanations.

We took our 11 year old grandson here. There were about a zillion billion little kids with their parents there. At first I thought this was going to be a nightmare... But I really liked it. The trains and exhibits were fascinating. We then took the Two Harbors train trip. Our hosts were colorful, knowledgeable, and funny. They added to... More

We wanted to see the railroad museum for a long time but travel time before to see friend kept us from going. This time we went I can not say enough good about the place, helpful people, good price, Fantastic exhibit and you can take all the time in the world. I am ready to go back. While there head...
