A very good railroad meuseum with a fine collection of railroad equiptment ,models and some other displays of historical eras.I have ran a large railroad meuseum and worked at several others. This is a very good one. Even if you are not all that much into trains you will find this place very nice.

Not expecting much from a railroad museum, as we were just swinging by after the train ride (which i would definitely recommend skipping unless you want to see the highway and storefronts) that we wanted our 2 yr old to experience. Lots of trains to go in and out of, model trains, and train tables to play at. All kinds... More

I grew up going to railroad museums all over the upper midwest with my Dad, and have to say this is my favorite. The rail yard is full of fun hidden surprises (like a railroad china car, a mail car, old Duluth shop windows to peak in, box car pattern display...). Even people I take there who aren't all that... We took a trip down to the lsrm during a visit with family in Hibbing on a Monday afternoon. DH & I went with our 4 kids (10, 10, 5, 4) and grandma. We each enjoyed it; however our 5yo son who is a big train lover found it to be WONDERFUL! Lots of trains to climb in & around--dining... More

Boys and Dads love this place. If you have a few hours, take the train to Two Harbors. (May only run Spring to Fall). They also have a Christmas train during the Bentleyville Winter Fest.

Lots of great locomotives and rolling stock for a rail fan to explore, including one of those monster Mallet steam locomotives they used to use to being Taconite from the Iron Range to the docks. The Museum also has a turn-of-the-century town display next to the locomotives, a model railroad display and a gift shop.

I took my boys here a couple times in late 2012 after riding on the North Shore Scenic Railway. The trains are incredible. There are many one of a kind trains, over half of which you are able to climb up inside of. My boys are 3 and 7 and they loved climbing the trains, while I loved reading about... More

If you love old trains, this is the place for you. Take a train ride on one of these old west beauties. See many trains from yesteryear and learn the history of trains. Kids of all ages will love this attraction.

This is really a great attraction and has an unique collection of trains, especially those that worked the iron mines of northern Minnesota. It is probably the fineest example of a railrod museum in the mid-west. I vist a number of such museums when I am in the west and this compares wonderfully well with those in Nevada. It is... More
