Nice short train ride

Fun informative trip. Train and track very old. The conductor gives a good oral history lesson, not much to see but the scenery is beautiful.

There are 2 train rides in Duluth. The other heading North is great but this is even better especially if you want to see wildlife and follow right along the St Louis River! It departs right across the street from the Lake Superior Zoo so take a day to do both!

Went on the train on July 26th. What a great trip. All volunteers operate this train. About one hour and 40 minutes. A great way to learn some history of the Duluth area.

This excursion railway is indeed a hidden gem amongst the many Duluth attractions competing for your attention. The all volunteer staff are very good hosts during the ~90 minute ride upon 100 year old tracks along the St Louis River. The scenery is impressive and the historical narrative is interesting. Excursions are only on weekends between June and October and... More

At first glance this little tourist railroad is not very impressive. Don't be fooled. This is a very nice relaxing way to spend a few hours. We were lucky enough to ride in the fall during peak autumn leaf colors so our trip was visually spectacular. Unlike many train rides, this excursion rolls right out of town and into the... More

The price was very reasonable. The volunteer staff was amazingly knowledgeable, warm, friendly and welcoming. The scenery was beautiful. It was cool to experience the history of being in 100 year old train cars.

I want to give out 5-stars, but I do these reviews to be honest. The Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad tour runs 1 hour and 40 minutes, on Saturdays and Sundays. Departure times are 10:30 a.m.and 1:30 p.m. The train travels past a couple lakes and the St. Louis River. About half-way through the ride, they unhook the engine, (you... More

I waited for the train but it didn't appear. I found out, by chance, that the railway was suspended due to flood problems. I accept that this can happen, but a sign on the ticket office should have been displayed to this effect. Very disappointed

The trains are reasonably priced and comfortable. A 90 minute trip was just right - fun to see and learn more about the city. Kids will adore taking a "real" train ride!
