Why do I love Black Bear Casino? For one thing, it's intimate enough without being kitschy or antiquated. There are new machines all the time. It's spacious enough and there are usually machines available for two or three friends to game together, which is a rarity. The open feeling lends well to relaxation. There is the Sage Deli, with questionable... More

Almost always stop at Black Bear on our way up north. Nice break from driving. Casino is in good location right off I35. Buffet is same as every other casino buffet. Seven fires is nice for a date night. Rooms are nice and are inexpensive.

Stayed at Black Bear twice. Once going to Duluth and once on the way back. Both stays were very nice. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff friendly. There was a loud party next door on our second night there but a call to the desk was all it took for security to quiet the room. We ate at... More

I love gambling at Black Bear but absolutely hate how much smoke is in the casino. It is so bad for everyone's health and people aren't always kind when they sit next to you with their cigarette. WHY can't the casinos go smoke free?? They could have a complete separate place where people could smoke. I do like the new... More

I felt the casino was well laid out, well ventilated and plenty of penny machines. We did not go to the buffet. The Sage Deli was only fair at best. The coffee shop was great. There are a lot of lounging areas for sitting and watching TV or chatting if you aren't into playing. Originally from the Phoenix AZ area... More

We enjoyed staying in the tower room. It was clean and bed was comfortable. Liked eating at the breakfast buffet. Only negative was having to walk through smoke to get to elevators

There are a lot of new games but I didn't have any luck at all. I tried different times during the day/night. This is my second time here in 3 months- same result both times

The casino was big and had a great selection of newer games The staff were vert friendly. My only complaint was that the casino was really smoky...coming from Canada, we are not used to that anymore. It looks like many people come to eat and play. Because it is such a great buffet, it is really busy. See the server... More

We stay at Black Bear several times a year and take advantage of the golf play and stay package. The green fees and room rates are discounted. If you stay in the Tower, the rooms are excellent and a real value for the price. The course is typical Northern Minnesota, with narrow fairways, and lots of woods and water. The... More

My husband and I have stayed at Black Bear several times. The rooms are much nicer in the newer part of the hotel -- rooms in the older hotel were pretty dingy with poor lighting. The pool and other amenities are nice and well maintained. Generally the staff is very friendly and accommodating although my son had a bad experience.... More
