So I'll admit it right away... We're a bit biased about Mille Lacs. We own a lake home on Mille Lacs just outside of Garrison. Great fishing with plenty of public/free boat launches (the one we prefer is just north of Terry's on 169). Great lake for water sports though note that the lake is large and water is on... More

Peaceful place with great fishing. The only thing that I didn't like was people move slow to take care of you. I loved my trip and would highly recommend it to anyone going.

Lake Mille Lacs is a beautiful display of all that Minnesota has to offer. Great fishing both summer and winter, gorgeous views, beaches, great resorts and restaurants (Red Door Resort and Motel and their WayPointe Cafe is excellent on north Mille Lacs and closest to Brainerd), and overall, a must see when visiting the Brainerd area. Few lakes offer the... More

We cruised out into the depths (ha ha the deepest part of the lake is less than 20feet-maybe less than 12feet?) of Wahkon bay where we drifted among charming little islands (some with buildings some without), clear waters, and mostly sunny skies. There were some speed boats and skiers but it's such a big lake (we never even got out... More

lots of lake area but nothing to do unless you have a boat. Drove around half the lake and hardly ANY beach area or public places to enter the lake for swimming or sitting on the shore.

I spent a weekend fishing here with a friend who had a cabin on the lake. I was here in October, so the morning were cold on the lake, but once the sun came up it was warm. We spent our time catching Walleye. I had never been Walleye fishing, but I had a great time a caught a few... More

Lovely, large lake with lots to do. Visit the Waypoint Cafe at the Red Door Resort for a fabulous, well priced meal.

Lake Mille Lacs is over 20 miles from Brainerd. It's not accurate for Brainerd to claim this lake as their attraction. There are many other towns right on the lake being short-changed by this adveritsing practice. Brainerd IS a nice place to visit and Lake Mille Lacs IS a great fishing lake, but they should not be listed together.

Campground web site does not reflect the true nature of this resort. Lots are for sale here or seasonal lease as well as nightly rates of $35.00. All of the amenities listed are locked up tight. The only dumpster is at least 200 yards away. There is no management representative on site. The lake and dock is across a very... More
