Nice bit of nature

This is a nice park located along the Minnesota River. The nature center that I went to was just south of the airport. It's not a big visitor's center, but it's nice. The trails are pretty good, and the look-out by the center is spectacular.

This is part if the MN Valley National Wildlife Refuge. It is located four miles south of Shakopee, on the west side of Hwy 169. You are well advised to go before or after the mosquito/tick season and after the spring flooding has subsided and dried. Also, I highly recommend avoiding the park during the Renaissance Festival as it shares... More

Have gone there on several occasions..havent seen much wildlife and on my recent visit there was a youth wildfowl hunting event going on which seemed a bit odd for a refuge..but the trails are pleasant enough and very close to the all the hotels.. I have enjoyed them on my visits here.

We visited here when we were in town for a wedding, it was across the street from our hotel. Interesting displays inside. Got to see the wild turkeys strutting their stuff. We didn't have time to go on the walk outside on the trails, maybe next visit.

See the most urban wildlife refuge ever. Right under the airport routes you can climb or stroll or observe nature at its best.

In a recent trip to Minneapolis/Bloomington area we had an opportunity to birdwatch and hike through three areas of this refuge. Due to medical problems our walking was limited. We found the Bloomington Ferry unit of the refuge to be the most accessible. We were able to park very near to a arched bridge over the Minnesota River and spent... More

The refugee is quiet and beautiful, but needs some maintenance. Our first so was the Louisville Swamp. Overall, it was beautiful. There are not many opportunities to see an oak savannah. However, the signs pointed to restrooms that never materialized, a lot of paths had not been maintained, and a washed out path resulted in a 1.5 hour detour. Also,... More

Very quiet hike down the hill into the refuge. Pretty steep going back up, but a good workout by the center. Nice views from on top.

We had a lot of fun and biking the trails. It's was very beautiful, and we seen some wildlife! Even a garter snake that was in the middle of the path! Loved it, will definitely go back!

We stopped at the MN National Wildlife Refuge visitors' center first thing on a cold, rainy Friday morning. Once inside, my attention was immediately drawn to a bird feeding station on the other side of a large window. I and other visitors were able to see a variety of birds feeding close up, including a huge Pileated woodpecker. There were... More
