Owner description: Golf, invented in Scotland, Perfected in Traverse City. Even in northern Michigan – the Midwest’s golf capital – LochenHeath Golf Club stands out. Rated by Golf Magazine and Golfweek as a Top Public Course You Can Play, the challenging 7,239-yard course, only minutes from downtown Traverse City, is a shot-maker’s dream. The Scottish links-style design is one of very few in northern Michigan and features rolling terrain, wide open fairways and deep, well-placed bunkers. Many holes offer sweeping views of Grand Traverse Bay. Beyond golf, LochenHeath has an outstanding restaurant, a well-stocked pro shop, and an attentive staff that’s eager to please. We are transitioning to a fully private club but invite outside play during this transition. For the perfect golf experience, please call to reserve your tee time.

This course was private at one time but is now semi-public. LochenHeath is a beautiful and challenging course in a links setting with gorgeous views of the bay and the stately looking 'cottages' along the course and the bay. The course plays very long for the weekend golfer but each return visit will help overcome your self doubts as you... More

Ron Thank you for the nice review. We are glad you enjoyed your day at LochenHeath Golf Club. We work hard to make sure the course is in great condition and the architect, Steve Smyers certainly made it challenging from the back tees. We hope to see you here again on your next visit to the Traverse City area. More

One of the best-kept secrets on the East Bay is the Restaurant at Lochenheath Golf and Country Club. The restaurant is open to the public and serves lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. The food is delicious and impeccably prepared by Chef Joseph George. Though the dinner entrees are limited to five or six nightly, there is always something to please... More

We are frequent diners at LochenHeath. The chef is creative and the food is always delicious. The restaurant doesn't seem to advertise and it's tucked away in the middle of the golf course so most visitors to the Traverse City/Elk Rapids area don't know about it. We are in TC often and it is one of our favorite restaurants.

What a beautiful course! If you are looking to golf in the Traverse City area, a must play. Very well maintained. Views were gorgeous. Quick greens. Proshop was well outfitted. Only negative moment I have is the outhouses on the course, instead of a proper washroom. I would definitely give it a 10 out of 10!

I was visiting northern Michigan and decided to play a round of golf. LochenHeath was a great choice. I had a great experience from check-in to completion. I rented a set of clubs and they were brand new Nike's. They hit well and my round was below my handicap. I loved the rolling hills and the view of the waters... More

The course is beautiful, the staff is great! They could just use one more set of tees for the women. 5888 yards with dramatic uphills and a great deal of wind is just a lot for most woman.

Played golf here for the first time in late August. I play a lot of golf and have played a lot of great golf courses. Lochenheath has to rank at the top of the list if courses that I have played. The practice facility is second to none. I could easily spend 3 hours a day on this practice range... More

One of our favorite courses in Northern Michigan, beautiful and challenging. Would recommend it when in Northwestern Michigan. Stay for food and drink. Great eats and view over course to East Bay is stunning.

Course was in great shape, but it's challenging. Some excellent views of West Bay. Staff was friendly. Clubhouse, restaurant well appointed and good food. Only downside was kitchen prep was slow and we were short of time. Apparently started as a private golf club, didn't make it and was rescued and is now public. I think if you try it,... More

The golf is scenic and tough. The restaurant is very good with a Chef changing the menu frequently. Wait staff is attentive. The menu has not much variety but, the food is good and served hot. The outside dining is scenic. A Hawk visited in the tree while we were there, not sure of the species.
