We went to DeYoung on a Sunday and it was quite busy. The animal enclosures are very natural, many with swimming areas. Lots of the big cats were in the water. Dry nice way to spend a few hours!

One of the best zoo I ever visited. The people there really care about animals. There were so many hands on experiences. You see the animals up close and the feedings were incredible.

I have never been to the zoo, I watch it on tv and I think its great what they do for the animals. But its getting really hard to watch due to the way Carrie treats and talks to Bud. I'm especially talking about the episode with the male hippo coming home. Maybe that's the way there relationship is ,... More

First and foremost remember that this is NOT a big "pretty" zoo. However, my children all enjoyed it (they are 17, 15 and 3) and said we NEVER need to go to a different zoo again! There is SO much to enjoy here. If you want to see the bears being fed you can! Big cats? YEP! Do you want... More

I've attended twice now and will never go to a city "cement zoo" again! Loved every minute and learned so much! I just watched their DVD from NatGeo and was floored at how much these two and all their volunteers do for these animals and the whole community ...I wish everyone could see this and understand The zoo. They are... More

Cool little zoo with a nice variety of animals and interactive and educational programs. Friendly staff who are great at engaging children in their programs.

This is off the beaten path, but definitely worth it and I don't even normally like zoos. Throughout the day they have different activities including an hour long big cat feeding. You can feed Wallace the Hippo and we got to pet baby wolves and a baby monkey. The animals are up and active, just don't expect everything to be... More

After watching My Life is a Zoo on NatGeo and reading Bud's book, my wife and I planned a full weekend around going to the Deyoung Family Zoo. We are from Chicago, and we were happy to make the drive out for the experience. This zoo is--quite literally--in the middle of nowhere. You won't know you are close until you... More

I'm not a fan of zoos but this place is different! I was visiting My parents in Marquette and suggested my dad and I drive over one day. It was perfect weather and I was very impressed with the entire establishment. Being a very big animal rights activist I promote animals in their natural habitat. These animals are very well... More

We decided to go to the zoo because we had been avid viewers of the show "My Life is a Zoo". We thought it would be more interactive then it was. No one was very friendly-especially Bud-I realize he has a job to do but we walked right passed him and said hello and he just stared at us-the funny... More
