Cool little zoo with a nice variety of animals and interactive and educational programs. Friendly staff who are great at engaging children in their programs.

This is off the beaten path, but definitely worth it and I don't even normally like zoos. Throughout the day they have different activities including an hour long big cat feeding. You can feed Wallace the Hippo and we got to pet baby wolves and a baby monkey. The animals are up and active, just don't expect everything to be... More

After watching My Life is a Zoo on NatGeo and reading Bud's book, my wife and I planned a full weekend around going to the Deyoung Family Zoo. We are from Chicago, and we were happy to make the drive out for the experience. This zoo is--quite literally--in the middle of nowhere. You won't know you are close until you... More

I'm not a fan of zoos but this place is different! I was visiting My parents in Marquette and suggested my dad and I drive over one day. It was perfect weather and I was very impressed with the entire establishment. Being a very big animal rights activist I promote animals in their natural habitat. These animals are very well... More

We decided to go to the zoo because we had been avid viewers of the show "My Life is a Zoo". We thought it would be more interactive then it was. No one was very friendly-especially Bud-I realize he has a job to do but we walked right passed him and said hello and he just stared at us-the funny... More

You will never get closer to animals in any other zoo! Great hands on for the kids. Wide variety of animals.... Camels in Michigan?! There is now a place to eat across the road. Great addition to an already great place!

And I do mean the day. This is the first zoo I've ever been to where the animals are not so lethargic that all you get to see of the tiger or lynx is the tail in some weeds. These animals are happy and they show it. Definitely be there for the tiger and hyena feedings, and definitely be there... More

A great zoo to visit ! Not your typical zoo. This is a family owned and run zoo, with interactive demostrations. The day we were there they went into the wolf enclosure and did a educational talk about them and handled pups. The big cat feeding is a COOL thing if you have never seen it. It's in a natural... We enjoyed an outing to the DeYoung Family Zoo on Mother's Day. All moms got in free. We were very impressed with the zoo for our first visit. We especially enjoyed seeing the Russian bears, tigers and hippo. They also have a cute chimpanzee. Be sure to be at the zoo at 1:00 for feeding the big cats. Check out... More

This is simply one of the greatest zoos in the US—it's no wonder why NatGeo picked this zoo out of all the others in the states! As others have stated, the natural settings are perfect and you can tell that the critters love being in them. The Big Cat feeding time is NOT to be missed! Fantastic animals: Everything from...
