Staff was friendly; loved the balcony - like a step back in time. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the free popcorn, and quality movie experience.

Went here to see Young Frankenstein after visiting a few Traverse City night spots. Very nice theater, reasonable prices at the concession stand (when was the last time you heard that?!), and a fantastic theater for seeing a movie. If I lived in TC I would be a regular here!

This place is worth going in for a movie...even if you don't like the movie. The theatre is the star...beautifully renovated and staffed by volunteers who really care. I love everything about this place! A gem for a gem of a town.

Don't miss this gem. Independent movies with thought provoking content shown in a theater voted "Best" in the USA!!! The ambience is wonderful especially with the night sky of Northern Michigan identifiable imbedded in the ceiling and the undeniably best sound and picture quality imaginable. Seats are large, plush and rock able. $3.00 popcorn!!! Did you know that Michael Moore... More

On children's day (usually every Saturday and holidays) everyone is admitted for 25 cents. Great children's movies. The Traverse City Film Festival every summer is rated number one in the country. State Theater is rated number one in the world.

Atmosphere is beautiful, price of tickets is very reasonable, good value on goodies, first rate movies and the screen is humungous. It is a fun time and so much better than going to the "big box" theaters.

This theatre is staffed by volunteers. They implore you before the show to be courteous, turn cell phones off, and so forth. They're so nice, it's hard to not obey. Snacks are super cheap ...2 sodas and a medium (but huge) popcorn for $7.50.

Its a really nice place with lots of seats and room. They also own Bjou by the bay. Another theatre recently opened. And they have good popcorn.
