Its a really nice place with lots of seats and room. They also own Bjou by the bay. Another theatre recently opened. And they have good popcorn.

This is very historic, quaint, cool & nostalgic. Reminds of the theaters from the 70's. They show the most cutting-edge movies too. Film festival quality. Must see while in TC

Where can you go and see a movie for 25 cents??? Yes one rainy Saturday morning on our vacation we went to see Diary of a Wimpy kid and it only cost our family of 5 $1.25!!! I thought the seats might be old, but they seemed very nice and even had cup holders. The movie was very clear and... More

We're considering whether to watch a movie at the theatre & wanted to take a quick peek. The lady at the Entrance was really nice & suggested that we'd really need to go inside in order to take a peek. We ended up going to watch a movie. It was great!

I lived in Northern Michigan for the majority of my life, however, it wasn't until I moved away and was back visiting friends and family that I had the opportunity to visit the State Theater. It is a beautiful building, with wonderful character. I love the diversity of entertainment and the fabulous downtown location. Can't wait to visit again.

This theatre is incredible! It was such a joy from start to finish...the little box office with the funny & sweet cashier! The friendly concession folks who happily served up our very reasonably priced popcorn! The walk into the actual theatre made us gasp... Stars on the ceilings glowing... Beautiful red curtains... Glory of years gone by... We saw woody... More

Wonderful volunteer staff, always smiling. Great films, and fabulous ambiance! The most comfortable theatre seats you ever sit in. Great visibility, great everything! The FilmFest alone is worth making the trip to Traverse if you haven't attended yet.

Think about how many movies you see a year. What if you had a theatre right downtown that is considered one of the greatest small theatres in the world, with a unique selection of great films, affordable ticket prices and cheep awesome popcorn. It's beautiful and the seats are very comfortable, run by volunteers. We in TC are truly blessed... More
