This is the best theater I have ever tried. Really comfortable seats, inexpensive popcorn and drinks, amazing sound system, and renovated to look like the original from 100 years ago. The ceiling has the night sky of Traverse City. This is The Gem of downtown. Walk in just to look or take in a movie

If you remember going in to a "Show" to see a movie many years ago, you'll LOVE this theatre.... It takes you back in to a time when it wasen't killing your ears with tremendous sounds, and could enjoy the surroundings, plus the smell of fresh cooked popcorn. They also offer children rates on the week-end at 25cents. How long... More

The ceiling looks like the night sky with twinkling stars. There are regular kid-friendly matinees with a lower price. It's one of my favorite places to go for a movie.

A beautifully restored, historic theater run almost entirely by community volunteers! Affordable ticket & concessions with the best popcorn in town! Try Wild Bill's Rootbeer if you like rootbeer, it's a local product, delicious!

The State Theatre is a wonderful source for movie lovers. This outstanding performance space plays movies that you normally will only see in major metro areas. And they also play the classics as well as current popular fare. Traverse City wouldn't be the same without it.

Completely renovated and up to date with digital technology, the State Theatre is a must see for movie goers.....even the 25 cent Saturday morning kids movies. Home base to the Traverse City Film Festival.... TCFF.org. Late July each year. Order tix the day they go on sale or you will be out of luck.

My husband and I see a movie at the State Theatre every time we visit Traverse City. It is a pleasure to walk down Front St. to the theater rather than going to a mall multiplex theater. The volunteer staff is friendly and helpful. Since I am blind, I was able to borrow a device that provided me with audio... More

We often go to the State. It is central to the local Film Festival and is a refurbished original theater on an original small town "Main Street" (literally it is Front Street phew ever) But it's really special when they offer quarter movies for kids on Saturdays and during school holidays like spring break. It doesn't seem like your part... More

This is a treasure in Traverse City. What a beautifully grand way to experience a movie. Reasonable tickets, reasonable popcorn, a non profit , with volunteer help that gives back to our city. It's not owned by a for profit corporation - this is for our community. Thank you we love you - State Theatre
