There are some wonderful trails to walk, bike or run on. They run through the city but there are also trails that go through the woods. Any of the bike shops in town would have a map of the TART trail.

The VASA 5 and 10K trails through the woods in Acme are a best-kept secret! We've done it no fewer than 40 times in spring, summer, and fall. Unfortunately, there isn't a trail between the TART and that section of the VASA, just roadside. We drive out there. It's hilly, so a good workout on foot (or trail running), and...

I live just one block from this trail and use it all the time during the "non-snow" months...although many do use it in the winter time. Generally we bike it from our entry point to the east end, which gives some beautifully secluded paved trails and boardwalks that wind behind the state park and along a lovely railway. We rarely...

The sleeping bear sand dunes were amazing with the backdrop of Lake Michigan. You could rent bicycles and ride all over the city. One day we drove up north about 50 miles great views with small little shops and orchards you could stop at. Lake Michigan is so beautiful.

We lake to ride along the beautiful bay or take the trail along Boardman Lake. For the Boardman Lake trail, we park at Oryana Foods, take the trail along the north side past the library then down along the lake. Very nice!

When you visit Traverse City, bring your bicycle, roller blades, feet or wheel chair, and take a spin on the TART trail! There are actually three inter-connected trails that are completely separate from traffic--no riding along the edge of the highway on the TART trail making it very safe. The TART trail is a 10.5 mile long trail that stretches...

Trail is flat and paved most of the way. You can ride east from TC out to Acme. On this trail suggest you stop to play mini-golf and get a diner-style lunch at Don's Drive-in. Go west from TC all the way to Sutton's Bay or just to Tom's grocer if you just want an easy ride along the bay

My husband and I (not very experienced bikers) had an absolutely fabulous day on the TART trail! We rented bikes from Brick Wheels (very helpful) and headed onto the trail, our goal was Sutton's Bay. The trail was wonderful, as you leave Traverse City, it is well marked. Then you get to the part away from the traffic and it's...
