Riding the TART trail from Traverse City to Sutton's Bay was one of the highlights of our weekend visit to Traverse City. The trail, which well marked and paved the entire way, follows beautiful gently rolling farm country. It was a very relaxing experience to be able to enjoy our ride without worrying about cars whizzing by. I wondered whether... More

The TART trail is a great trail for biking, running, or walking. In the city it runs along US 31 and offers a safe path without having to worry about all the automobile traffic.

Have been using the TART trail for 7 or 8 years now, and I'm always amazed at how great it is. Now that the part to Sutton's Bay is paved (and has a bus available to bring you back to the city), it's even better. Keep up the good work and looking forward to even more improvements!

If you are looking for a safe place to skate, ride, run, or walk you can use the trails right in town. It is about 13 miles long and hooks up to the Leelanau Trail to go all the way to Suttons Bay, a very cute town. The trail takes you by water, fields, wildlife, farms, historic places, bike shops,... When we were there the trails were still snow covered so it was so peaceful and quiet that the walking was like be away from everything!

Winds thru the woods and country. Nice wide paved trail that takes you all the way to Suttons Bay from Downtown Traverse City

I always like to hit the bike and hiking trails in my travels. In Traverse City we were staying at the Quality Inn on the east bay and the trail is just behind, paralleling the railroad tracks, so it is very flat between 3 mile Rd and 5 mile Rd. What's nice about urban trails is #1 asphalt paving. I... More

The trail was lovely. My daughter is not much of a bike rider but even she enjoyed the scenery and the ease to the trail. We went in mid fall so the colors were in full bloom so the colors were just delightful.

Hiked an 8-mile portion of the TART from the trailhead in Acme west towards Traverse City. A good portion of TART is purpose built, not-rails-to trails like a lot of urban hiking trails. Start was unpromising, with the first mile or so between a disused railroad and a busy main trunk, but then it followed the railroad into quieter and... More
