Nice State Park

Another excellent Michigan State Park. Campground is nice and the beach is okay. If you want to park at the beach, you need to get there early.

Great place to unwind, grab a bottle of wine and some cheese & crackers. OR get some ice cream nearby!

Very large camping sites and close to the beach just on the opposite side of the road. Perfect for families on a tight budget. New and clean washrooms. Easy access to the biking trail and downtown part of the city. Close to restaurants and attractions.

We visited Traverse City in August and since we are from California, maybe we are a little jaded, but I have to say that the beaches are very overcrowded here and the water is colder than I expected. The sand is nice and clean(we saw students on summer break raking the sand every morning), but alot of people go to... More

In TC for a wedding, and didn't like the thought of $200+ a night for a room(if you could find one). Took the RV and stayed at the park for $31/night. It's a state park, so it's a little less refined than a private campground. Sites were ample, and our 37' rv had plenty of room. Can get a little... More

We camped for 2 nights at Traverse City SP - we were supposed to be there for 3 nights. Location was convenient with easy access to town, Sleeping Bear Dunes NP and some of the other small beach towns in the area. Unfortunately the park does not have direct private beach access - you need to walk across an overpass... More

My family visited the park on a multi-family camping trip this past July. It was the weekend so it was packed. We didn't realize we would be in town for the Cherry Festival but that didn't really seem to impact our stay. This park is divided into two sections. The campground, which is open only to registered campers, and across... More

A so so place. The beach doesn't look outstanding. Maybe it is because it is right by the city road.

Our family of 5 in a small travel trailer arrived and were shocked that so many campers could be crammed in one area, usually state parks have more space than the average campground. When we picked the site months before we found one which was just across the road from the beach, so we booked it. We didn't realize that... More

Great place to camp as it's close to everything you probably want to see. Use your bikes to get around as traffic is pretty bad.
