I made my annual trip to Shady Lane this week. I love this place and have been visiting for many years. I've seen many changes over the years especially this year with the new owner who has added an outdoor bar and patio area. The wine here is excellent and even though they are charging for wine tastes (the reason... More

The setting for wine tasting at Shady Lane Cellars is just gorgeous! We were lucky enough to hit it on a day when the weather was beautiful so we were able to enjoy the outdoor tasting area. Wonderful wine and the pourers were informative and fun to visit with during our tasting.

The RED wines here are as close to CA as we've had in Northern MI. The depth and body of the Blue Franc, with it's peppery nose is superb. Some of their other reds were also quite good. This is not your typical light to medium bodied slightly sweet or tangy set of reds. The outdoor tasting area has a... More

I'll give any wine tasting room a 4star, because after all, you're their tasting wine. This is a cute little winery, with a house that's super cozy. They have a really nice outdoor patio tasting area, with a free standing fireplace, and places to sit. As well, as the usual inside tasting area and souvenier shop.

We've visited this winery in the past and we really enjoy it. They have added an outdoor tasting area since our last visit. It is a beautiful setting. The staff are the friendliest around. We sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine along with cheese and crackers. They have a variety of excellent wines for tasting, but not as... More

Their great new patio bar was busy when we got there, so we went inside and still had a nice time sampling wines at the bar inside. Pretty patio area, great wines.

The tasting room was in a beautiful setting, and the staff were extremely friendly. Their wines have won several awards, and once you taste them, you'll understand why. Every variety we tried had such unique and carefully calibrated flavor. On top of it all, the wines are very reasonably priced. We absolutely love Shady Lane's wine!

A for sure gem in the heart of Leelanau County. Super staff and wines. The wine tour business has really taken off and every tasting room is very busy. Shady Lane manages to make everyone feel welcome and doesn't rush you through the wine tasting experience.
