We went out with Brett (first mate of the Manitou) on the Scout for a sunset sail on Friday, October 2. Brett warned us ahead of time that the wind would be brisk and the water could be choppy, giving us the opportunity to re-book if we were anticipating light breezes and smooth sailing. Fortunately for us, having owned our... More

This was just great! We learned so much and had so much fun! Everything was done to make us comfortable (and safe). The food was wonderful and plentiful. If you have time for one of the "fall season" cruises, take advantage of this. It was well worth the investment and a lifetime experience.

Hubby and I booked a sunset cruise with sleep over on the Scout boat (the smaller boat of the Manitou fleet). Captain Dave was absolutely awesome! He gave us the tour around the bay, pointing out landmarks and directing us to places to visit on land tomorrow. He is very personable and very fun! We will definitely be booking another... More

Where to begin... My husband and I did the noon tour on Day Two of our honeymoon. We thought it was going to be wonderful. We took the shuttle across a busy road when we got there with about 10 other people and anxiously awaited the moment of boarding. To our horror, a charter bus with a ton of people... More

I've often seen this great ship in Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City, longing to be a passenger just once... I got the chance last weekend, and I was not disappointed. We took a two-hour cruise; the weather was gorgeous, sunny and warm. It was a fascinating experience watching those huge sails open up in the wind. Although it wasn't... More

Took the evening cruise with entertainment and enjoyed it immensely! The staff was friendly and informative. The music was great, jigs, sing alongs , etc. We enjoyed watching the crew working the ship as much as the lively band and the incredible scenery. Bring a jacket and wear long pants. It gets cold and windy out there on the high... More

We elected to do the two hour evening cruise and bed and breakfast. The evening sail was cut short due to a storm that came up. The captain elected to return to shore rather than jeopardize the safety of the passengers. The cost of the evening sail was refunded and we really enjoyed spending the night on the boat. The... We booked a noon tour on the Tall Ship Manitou for our family of 6 ranging from teen ager to 2 year old. All had a marvelous time. The Captain and crew were wonderful, engaging and highly knowledgeable. The kids were able to steer the ship and hoist the sails. I recommend taking a light snack, buying a drink and... More

If you do choose to take this tour, I would highly recommend waiting until the day of and making sure you have good sailing weather. We purchased in advance and had no wind whatsoever for our sail. They did not cancel, instead they took us out (using their motor), let us watch the crew and help put up the sails,... More

Great weather, gorgeous bay, friendly crew, beautiful ship. Throw in a nice picnic lunch & a little wine and you have a very nice way to spend a few hours.
