Had a lot of fun on the ship and a great day for sailing. Crew was helpful and friendly and the captain was educational about the boat and sailing. He let a lot of kids steer the boat and some adults as well. He was very calm and patient and instructional with the kids and they all loved it. The... More

I had expected this to be more of a tour but it was just you sitting there enjoying the bay. They took us in a big circle around the bay and I was hoping to do more. I don't think it was worth $40/person.

We took the Manitou evening boat ride and stayed overnight in the ship as a bed and breakfast. When I booked this I thought it would be a fun different experience. It was, but with all the other food options in the city I was sorry that our dinner and breakfast were both on the boat. We had a windy... More

My 16 year old daughter & I thoroughly enjoyed the 3pm session today. The staff were phenomenonal...they went over & above to make everyone comfortable, engage in the experience, & treated us like family. My daughter was over the moon thrilled to steer the ship & learn commands...thanks endlessly! Greatful from Hilliard, Ohio.

It was very cold and raining all day, but we took a chance and booked ourselves on the ship for an evening tour. We are so glad we did - it was cold, but we layered up and enjoyed the ride! The sailors were awesome, they really knew how to handle the boat and made it look simple, even though... More

This tall ship excursion leaves about 3 times daily for 2 hours of sailing in Lake Michigan. The ship holds about 50 people and it is imperative to have reservations. The crew are young and energetic and interact well with the passengers, especially the younger passengers. The captain even gives the kids an opportunity to steer the ship. Refreshment are... More

Our sailing adventure was July 2nd. We chose an afternoon sail, as the weather was very cool and we didn't want to freeze to death. We left at 3pm, returned 5pm, and it was the "ice cream" sail. Mainly chosen for "warmth" of the day ... not thinking that ice cream = families = a lot of kids on board.... More

Was looking forward to the afternoon ride today, and was happy that we made it back in the TC area in time for the ship to depart. However, no one was at the ticket house twenty minutes prior to departure and once someone returned it was too late for us to join the tour. Disappointed kids--oh well!

We took the afternoon trip on the Manitou. You arrive at 2:30 for the 3:00 sailing. A bus takes you across the street to the dock, where you board using a simple plastic boarding pass. Then the cruise is two hours long. This is a working sailing ship. It motors from the dock, but then the motor goes off and... More

My grandson and I took the 6:30pm 2-hour cruise on the tall ship Manitou in Traverse City at the end of June. The weather was perfect. Fresh air, the sun hitting the sails, and the friendly crew made this the highlight of our trip to TC. The passengers get to help raise the sails. My grandson got to man the... More
