I'm a sucker for a good book store, but this one takes the cake! The entire family was completely occupied for an hour...sometimes hard to do with kids! You can find every kind of book here! Rare first editions, signed copies, children's books...you name it, they probably have it. We had a nice chat with the owner and you could... More

The shop owners, Dick and Pam, are wonderful, friendly people. I am welcomed with a smile everytime I walk in. The books they sell are used and new and are sold at very fair prices. Every kind of book you could think of is in this store: biography, fiction, childrens/teens, cooking, gardening, religious, psychology and much more. They also have... More

We went to this little family run bookstore, which can be seen from Black River Tavern downtown, after our lunch there. It's full of new & old books, used books, first editions, autographed books, and various other treasures. It's packed to the brim. There's display tables of new books, and shelf after shelf of used books. We ended up there... More

Wonderful book store. New and used books. Good coffee and comfy chairs. Friendly owners and Dewy and Booker the labradoodles just add to the perfect atmosphere of this bookstore.

A rainy Saturday is the perfect time to go to Black River Books. Located just a block off South Haven's main drag, Black River Books is a friendly, cozy place with something for everyone. Three easy chairs in front near the coffee pot and cookie jar, make it easy to settle in and peruse whatever you choose from the stacks.... More

We recently were in South Haven and stopped into The Black River Book Store. This is our second time visiting the book store...we love it! The owners are warm and friendly and their two labradoodles are great ambassadors of books! It is very clear this couple has a passion for books. There are cozy chairs and light refreshments provided. You... More

I love used bookstores, and this one did not disappoint. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Chairs tucked into corners if you need to sit and relax, read, or browse for a while. Shelves are well-labeled and organized, books are shelved in categories, then in alpha order by last name. I did not find any books that were out of order or in... More

Wherever we travel, I make it a goal to find and visit independently owned book shops. Black River Books is the type of place that makes me smile when I walk through the door. There were display tables featuring local interest and Great Lakes books, a coffee maker, comfortable seating, shelves stuffed to overflowing, happy browsers and a dignified yet... More
