Visited last weekend, this was my favorite beach we went to. It wasn't crowded due to the hike to get there. The hike was rather enjoyable as well. The flys were pretty bad, but that was the same at Oval Beach. We will be back again. You do need the Rec Passport, you can buy it at the gate if... More

This is such a favorite place of ours. We love the walk through the woods to the beach and seeing all the families walking along with their wagons loaded with chairs and picnic items. Everyone seems relaxed and happy. Down on the beach there is more than enough room to spread out and enjoy the sand and water. I love... More

This beach is nice and secluded. It works well on days Oval Beach is overwhelmed. But, it is a long walk for a small family to the beach. There is also no running water in the bathroom facilities, so just be aware.

My Chicago friends Harold and Alan and I have come to Saugatuck since 2001. Every year when I visit them in Chicago in the Fall we spend the weekend the Douglass Halloween parade takes place. This year it's Saturday October 25th. Saugatuck is a very nice little township that boasts many eateries/restaurants and galleries. The most famous breakfast restaurant is"... More

We enjoyed a quite and stunningly beautiful walk in this wooded setting where trails lead to the beach. We followed the trails to a spot high on the dues where we sighted a Bald Eagle flying by.

There is about a mile hike to get to the beach with no restrooms. It was a very pretty, wooded hike and a beautiful view. Just be prepared to get some exercise and take some bug spray and water. Use the bathroom before you arrive because there aren't any on site.

The water was chilly but the beach was great. Not a lot of people when we were here which was great, more water for us.

We particularly liked it that you had to walk to the beach and couldn't drive, it was very unspoilt. The walk is not flat and not suitable for the infirm, although I certainly wouldn't class it as hiking. The woods were not what I was expecting for a dunes park (I think the proper dunes must be in a different... More

My wife and I made a trip to Saugatuck Dunes State Park two years ago. We always wanted to bring our kids back there. Well, we just did and had a blast! We paid the $9 entrance fee and took the Livingston Trail to the beach. The hike was about a 1.5 mile walk. Our five kids (ages 10, 9,... More
