Went cross-country skiing and the hills were just right, with plenty of trails available. Very few people out there, but a great place to go, easy parking and well-marked.

We spent 2 to 2 1/2 hours on the trails at this Dunes State Park, granted it was a 45 degree day with the sun shining bright, it was wonderful. The fall colors were still very much evident, the forest area was outstanding, the beach and dunes were awesome. Nobody was around, such a very, very pleasant afternoon in nature.... More

White sand and dunes. A pretty park with shower house and lifeguards. Just a wonderful place to relax and spend an afternoon. Great beach to watch a sunset. Small fee for parking.

There is nothing not to love about walking through stands of tall pines that have dropped their needles onto the sand paths. It is peaceful and calm on these paths, but the sound of the lake let's you know that you are not lost. Yes, the path goes up and down, but take your time or use a walking stick... More

My sister and I were in Saugatuck for a long weekend, and one of our to-dos was to check out the dunes (we're big fans of the Indiana Dunes ;-D ). We drive to the parking lot and headed for the trail. Ultimately, we took the long way - we saw a sign when we got back to the car... More

The dune rides are not to be missed. It is like riding a ground-based rollercoaster! My 8 yr old daughter loved it and the accompanying narratives from the driver are informative as well as entertaining.

Although the beach was lovely, we did not expect such a long hike to get there. Be sure to wear sensible shoes for the hike as it involves several large wooded dunes to cross over. Although we enjoyed the journey, some people would not enjoy the effort to get to the beach

The park is beautiful. You walk about a mile to the beach of Lake Michigan through the woods. When you get to the beach it is expansive, beautiful and the perfect sand. The dunes are like no other place in the world.

Second time we visited the dunes for a hike and it was as beautiful as the first time we went. The hike is nice and not strenuous. The views are gorgeous. The beach and lake remind me of the Atlantic.

The beach is beautiful. However, to get to the beach you must walk about 1/2 mile from the parking lot through tick infested woods on a sandy trail up and down hill. It is not a short walk. Great of your a young family but if your carrying a lot of stuff, or handicapped in any way. Its not going... More
